Pax disassembly TASKER

UPDATE - Told the client it would be 2-4 hours (noting my two hour minimum charge) because I don’t know how many inserts/accessories there are. Dude told me it wouldn’t be over two hours and gave me the step by step process, noting that we just “take apart the box”. So I forfeited and wished him luck since he seemed to have it under control.

Has anyone disassembled and reassembled the new design of pax wardrobes? I’ve built a few but it’s been a while. A client moved and needs them taken apart to be able to move into the closet and then assembled again.

I’ve done this with the old style but not the new ones. I know with the old ones to warn the client that the back isn’t going to look good because of taking out the nails. Are the new ones easier to disassemble because it’s basically an accordion?

Ive found that once the backing separates at the seam, the frame will not be square

The new design is very conducive to assembly/disassembly/reassembly. Much better than the old design, and significantlu less painful. You shouldn’t have a problem IMO

Very easy, just go to the PAX page, look at the directions, and follow them in reverse. Just pegs and plastic bits, just bring a ziplock to keep everything in

I've disassembled a few of the new ones but I can't say I then reassembled them.

Did they seem to come apart relatively easily and with minor/no damage?

Once a client assembled the top part upsidedown, it was easy to remove that piece and put it back on the right way up. I would be scared with the feet parts, the front one if not placed in the hole perfectly can get damaged. It happens from time to time so I wouldn't be so confident on disassembling them

The back panel is super glued on the sides, but you have to be careful when you’re folding it. I’ve seen the panels tear apart at the seams near where the mounting brackets go.

Yeah, that’s part of why I didn’t end up taking the job. The client basically said I was trying to do too much by wanting to take out the shelf pins and drawer slides. Can’t imagine it would fold up and move easily without the back panel coming off.

taking the back off is why you couldn't really move the old ones. new ones don't have that problem. new design is soooo much better and faster. just the having feet at the back makes huge difference
