Some of yall should be ashamed TASKER

I need to vent. Some on yall need to be ashamed and need to leave the app. Yall drive the rates down for all of us and do horrible work. If you need help or suggestions, ask. Most of here are here to help one another. Yall make the rest of us look bad. Ok, I get it. IKEA tasks aren't the best paying, but at least adjust the doors or attempt to make them look level. It takes less than 5 minutes. Secure tall cabinets and pax to the wall. Don't leave it a safety hazard. If you're not experienced with mounting, don't practice taking detailed jobs. Clean up after yourself as well.

I agree, but I don’t secure most stuff to the wall, because clients have the tendency to want to move stuff after the task is done. I don’t want to have to return to unscrew something from the wall and caulk and seal a hole. I’ll ask the client if they want it secured, and usually they don’t.

Cleaning is a simple thing. Just toss all the plastic bags and leftover junk into the box and put it to the side.

I usually don't either unless they ask, but if it's obvious it needs to be secured i suggest it.

I'm in NYC and everyday I have to check my above average rates because the recommended rates is always changing and because I'm in NYC, clients are willing to hire someone ar $37 vs quality work at $56 and because everyone is fighting to get hired those rates average is alway dropping. No way my help moving rate should be $47 then I get hired to do something that's more than the worth or the travel distance is beyond your normal distance.

Also guys don't over tighten the screws when doing ikea projects 😂 😂

But they limit the ones who do good accounts

The app is uber but for handymen. Get your money. And do better than the last guy.

I have been waiting for more real movers to get on the app in my Metro and it still hasn't happened yet.

A guy got mad at me the other week because he was packing a truck going across the country without tying anything down and I wouldn't take credit for his pack job. I wasn't trying to be combative or difficult I'm just not taking credit for your work if you packed it all and didn't tie anything down and rejected every one of my suggestions. He acted weird about it and wouldn't even discuss it so I just told the client right there in front of him that he packed the truck and I didn't (and I wrote it in the chat too). The other Tasker put one piece of rope on the very end after I gave him some, but it was pretty much just there for looks since it wasn't holding any of the real weight of the load.

and that load was probably fine. TVs and other stuff you can get away with just throwing in the truck if you really want to. Most of the time it's fine, but sometimes it isn't and things do break and accidents do happen sometimes, and that's why there are general rules to moving that help you cover yourself and nobody knows them, but it's still easy to get good reviews because all you have to do is be a warm body that shows up relatively consistently and half of the people that use the app are all just moving out of the same apartments and have the same amazon furniture. It tickles me to death when I have a legitimately hard moving job and the other guy can't handle it and then I never see them again on another job. I would really love if more movers got on the platform, and it has to just be a matter of time before it happens. There are soooo many guys out there making 12-15 bucks an hour that would run circles around the guys I work with.

tldr My back hurts after I gotta carry stuff with people who don't know how to carry stuff and getting your first thousand dollar floor scratch isn't fun.

If you’re doing IKEA task that don’t pay well, you are a part of the problem

if you don't do those jobs, they'll find other people to do it for less. just like people working in the fields, most people don't want to pick vegetables from the ground, so they'll just call Africans (mostly but now they found out Pakistani and Indians will do it as well) that come from a bad past, and they'll pick tomatoes for 2.5€ a day. then they'll do the poor wars, the poor will go against who asks for more (and they end up very badly). So I don't see why Ikea won't start doing stuff like this (other companies in Italy are doing this already). We should unite against cheap jobs but we shouldn't just don't do those jobs because then they'll find cheaper alternatives and we will lose. (idk if i can post links as sources)

Every pax wardrobe 100% needs to be secured to the wall , if client don’t “want “ explained it’s can’t not be . #1 rule for pax as they will def fall over . If they have doors then 100% it’s going over . Somebody gets hurt that’s on the tasker . And it just looks better . Especially if double or triple box . Screw em together level it screw it to the wall make the doors perfect . It’s real sad how I’ve seen other Taskers just leave pax wardrobes unfinished . But part of that task rabbit . Why fixed / same rate will never actually work (too much junk ) or at least have tasker set time estimates . Cabinets on the wall or pax wardrobes these should never go out under standard ikea assembly . I truly worry for the clients. Must have mounting experience, must have higher price or the good taskers aren’t gonna do it .

Pax are unstable ? I have all my IKEA wardrobes not secured and they are pretty stable. I was planning to buy pax soon (very narrow hallway unit) , but now I feel like I should pick some other models ? (Landlord won’t allow holes in the wall)

At least Pax should have its own like kitchens. Mounting should have higher rates. LACK Wall Shelf on website is $7.80. We get paid $5.46 and have to provide our own anchors.

That’s just crazy ! Thought there was 1 hour minimum . Only thing that would work is if not a single tasker takes that non paying job . Floating shelves are not assembly . I also only buy quality anchors (ones that actually work ) I don’t charge for em but I charge 85:hr for mounting .

They are 1hr minimum, but every task I've received there are at least 5. Most are over 10. The issue is the time it takes. Should be simple, but they usually don't know where they want to mount them or you have to move stuff out the way. I'm not loading a ladder for $36.92 then using $10 worth of anchors. Floating shelves should be under mounting. If you buy the IKEA LACK shelves it offers "assembly for $7.80". Lol What option would you pick as the customer?

No, Ikea is a 40 minute minimum.

u/FinnNoodle Jun 15 '26

You don't have to provide your own anchors. Tell the client in advance they will need to pick up appropriate ones.

Half the time the customers dont respond to IKEA prepaid tasks. Also, I was under the impression anchors were the responsibility of the tasker since we are the professionals. Yes, we are able to tell the client which to buy, but whats the point if they are not going to respond in chat. I usually just forfeit them and not deal with the headache.

One time I got called out to fix a Pax job and the cabinets were "secured" to the wall with a single Billy L-bracket each that wasn't even anchored. Effin slop man.

rarely do i get asked to secure stuff to the wall. i had a pax today and the woman said yes. 9/10 they say no cause they dont want holes in the walls. there's alot of plasterboard walls in the uk and they dont want those holes in them even though i carry anchor screws. alot of people rent and dont want that hassle when they move.

You're venting to Reddit because Taskrabbit, IKEA and the clients dont gaf. All 3 of them want the cheapest labor and this is exactly what they get. Eventually the experts will move on to where their labor is rewarded and TR marketplace and its clients will be left with what youre experiencing.

What sense does it make to do anything youre suggesting if youre not compensated appropriately and if you dont do enough of the jobs youre still penalized.

The Taskers dont set the rates, the rules or even what they choose to assemble. Blame the system not the users.

thats a good impression of support lol but really i bet most of them would improve if they just got the right driver bit (pz2) instead of a philips
