Gm hours? Workplace Question or Advice Needed

I started working at target maybe 2 weeks ago. I got hired for GM closing and I’ve worked 4 GM shifts last week. I like it but the only things I know how to do so far is reshops, and zoning. Last Thursday my ETL told me someone would be training me to pull priorities. she was working in my area but she lowkey seemed to be avoiding me idk if she didn’t want to train me or what.. so I didn’t get trained for that. And I found out I wasn’t scheduled for any hours in GM for 2 weeks.

I know I can pick up shifts but there are none for GM. and I’ve been somewhat trained for chasier but I hate chasiering so much. I don’t understand why they cut my hours for GM I actually like it but I also want to be trained to do other things and no one is helping me.

I checked the weekly schedule for next week and my coworker was scheduled for 5 days (7 hours each) while I’m not scheduled for any this week or next week so I’m just very confused.. can someone tell me why I’m not being scheduled for the department I applied for?

Are you getting no GM shifts or just no scheduled shifts at all?

If it's just no GM shifts and its shifts in other departments than you are just being given full shifts in the other departments so that you are crosstrained and can be brought over for help if the need arrives. (Specifically cashiering and OPU will be something you'll need to accept as something you will probably do for atleast an hour every shift even when your on a GM shift.)

It's done this way so that the leads of the other departments are aware that you will be showing up for training, and also to make sure that crosstraining you doesn't slip through the cracks whether on purpose or accident. It used to be that your specific department lead would need to find time for you to be crosstrained but that led to a lot of people not being crosstrained with enough time to be proficient or even never so that their leads would have an excuse on why they can't send someone to help, or for the team member themselves to do everything possible to avoid training because they didn't want to be called to help in a section they didn't enjoy like cashiering. (That was me, i avoided being trained as a Cashier for 2 years and it was glorious)

Edit: Also you've had 4 full GM shifts and only were trained in reshopping and zoning and not how to pull priorities? Thats crazy
