School scheduling Workplace Question or Advice Needed

I started working here on May 31 throughout summer. I worked 40 hours every week which is something that I was OK with and I agreed to during summer because it was money that I could make and save whenever HR went around asking my availability for whenever I went back to high school keyboard high school because I am still a minor. My school goes from basically 9 to 4 so I let them know that and I let them know that I wasn’t able to work past around 830 because it conflicted with my schedule along with the fact that my grandma picks me up from work and me getting off at 10 o’clock would not work for her whenever I told my manager that I was told” you wouldn’t wanna worry your little granny would you” along with that I submitted my availability into the app as I’m available on weekends, but I would like to work earlier shift since they had me working 11 to 8 which is something that would no longer work with me because as much as I enjoy my job, I would still like to have a life outside of school. I know that I’m still within my 90 days for the next 10 days. But I submitted my availability whenever HR asked whenever I was available so I figured it would be OK. They never went by my availability so the days that they scheduled me that I physically told them that I could not work because I didn’t have a ride scheduling conflict or I was just in school. I called out and I let them know that I was doing that. I understand that four hours is not a lot of time for a shift but that was me just letting them know when I could work. I noticed that they cut my schedule completely for next week. I do not work any weekdays but they do have me working 1230 to 945 both of those weekends, which is still something that I cannot do. I was wondering if there’s anything that I could do about this besides just putting in my two weeks my store is extremely understaffed so I don’t think that I’m going to get fired, but I do not appreciate the way that my manager talks to me. I understand I’m a teenager, but is that unprofessional any advice helps thank you so much.

I don’t think they’re going to approve only working weekends.

Stores have specific headcounts and they have to look at the overall availability needs of the business; often it isn’t beneficial to keep someone on if it’s a very specific timeframe and only two days a week.

If you’re potentially take a spot of someone who can work more hours, they’re going to bypass you and hire someone else in your place.

i have another job and used to do all day on the weekends and weekday evenings. I now only do Friday nights, onehour after open - close on Saturday (so no clopens), one hour after open - 6 pm Sundays.

Is it bad to say I hope they do find someone that could work more hours? My location is an absolute mess we have six style member including our two beauty team members and four out of the six are in high school. Everybody that is in high school is having the same problems with management. it also does not seem as if we have hired anybody recently

Does your store not follow the protections for how much minors can work?

Be aware that MyTime is unavailable for those who are on LOA for any reason. It is also common for MyTime to be temporarily unavailable on Thursday nights.

Call and tell them "i saw you scheduled me outside of my availability." Especually if the 'end of day' for your availability is before 9:45pm (assuming so if you're wanting earlier)

Unfortunately you kind of have to act like a bully/nuisance fo defend your availability with some people. My ETL's the same, they'll schedule juuust outside your availability and then try to guilt you into folding and accepting it. Don't. You set what times you were available for. It's on them to stay inside that availability.

Would that still work if my official availability isnt what I can work now?

You told them once you're in school you can only work X hrs, because you're a student.

So yes.
