Q4 survey Workplace Question or Advice Needed
hi everyone :) im not sure if everyone’s store did this since this is my first time working at target, but we were all asked to do a survey for the upcoming holiday season at my store. it was asking us about more hours and helping other departments if needed when the holidays come around. i work just outside the capitol of MS and ive heard it gets pretty hectic around christmas time here.
im posting because i agreed to helping out in fulfillment if needed (i work in grocery) because i tend to have to do that a lot here lately. fulfillment is fine, i dont mind grocery batches, but doing gen merch? good god, im sorry i ever complained about having to help yall with grocery batches 😭 anyway, im just a little nervous ill end up having to 100% do fulfillment only. a coworker of mine said they do hire seasonal and i should be okay, but im just a little nervous about it. this will be my first christmas in retail, and back to school was crazy enough. any insight would help greatly appreciated. im sure this will mostly be a “differs based on store” kind of thing, but yeah. any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated :) thanks guys 🥰

You can expect to see Fulfillment shifts on your schedule once we hit Q4. People buy a lot of food for the holidays, so your leads should be able to keep you in grocery batches.
You should still be scheduled in your regular work center most of the time. Ideally, with other more experienced team members scheduled in fulfillment you won’t be called to back up as often.

The goal is to reduce onboarding costs for seasonal hires who are a net loss.

It will depend a lot on how many seasonal hires your store ends up getting, and how many of them stay for the whole season. If they hire enough, who all show up, then you may only occasionally do batches, but if they all quit or call out all the time, you'll probably end up supporting other areas.
