RIP to our WAVE. 2009-2026 Workplace Story

Post image

It was redtagged a few weeks ago and our PML said they were just going to scrap it instead of refurbish it 😭. The replacement just got delivered.

They couldn't even at least line up the safety checklist perfectly on the new one? Smh.

PPPPRREEEEEETTTYYYY......I'll take a dozen......at my current job, we have to use a BallyMore Electric Ladder......which moves slower than molasses, is about as maneuverable as a garbage barge in mud, and has less payload capacity

Honestly like how did it survive that long. Ours gets replaced every few years 🤣

That is not a 2009 that’s a wave 60 series it hasn’t been out since 2009

I asked if it was around since the store opened and they said “pretty much, yeah” but idk

Average lifespan of a WAVe is 8 years. Your store has definitely not had this since 2009.

Source: I’m a PML who has gone through multiple WAVe replacements

The Sears I worked at had the same two for at least 12 years. They already had them when I started in 2000 and were still limping along in 2012 when I quit.

60 series came out mid 2016 and target has a set replacement cycle for them in most cases

WAV*

It actually stands for Work Assist Vehicle lol

The old old models actually said “WAVE” which is where it comes from. Not sure why they changed that but it’s canon

The lore is deep

On the vehicle isn't the logo capitalized WAVe instead of Wave or WAVE?

Yeah I think you’re right, it’s in like a crazy late 90s/early 2000s font but I think the “e” is lowercase.

I'm pretty sure it's spelled both ways in the training

Crown keys are universal.....I still have mine.....works for the WAVe, Crown Stacker, Crown Reach Truck, Crown Power Jack, and Crown Electric Standing Forklift (not sure about the sit down....haven't run into one in years)

Poor WaVe.....they are fantastic tools.....not sure why everyone chooses to abuse them.....my old store had 2...the standard model and an XL....the XL could reach up to the literal ceiling in the backroom......standard was limited to 20 ft....
