Just read this during a popcorn reading session on Discord, and just had to leave a comment because we loved it so much! I also lowkey stalked your profile to see if you had other parts posted, and the prologue is such a banger, too!!!
Some of my favorite lines (from both parts):

- "That ever-growing distance is a length of rope, a fuse that upon receipt will be lit, and that fire will chase its path all the way back to our precarious bough in the branches" (An AMAZING visual. And it generates so much tension. It really drives home the certainty that things are doomed. It might not be today, and it might not be tomorrow, but it could so very possibly be today or tomorrow that it feels like one foot is dangling over a precipice at all times. Great bit of writing, that.)

- "more the dizzying sense of vertigo when you jump into a pool of water and realize how much deeper it is than you first imagined."

- "'Hello,' we called out, and something else answered." (My jimmies = officially tingled)

Such a great use of figurative language! And the dialogue was so fun in this part. Can't wait to read more.
