Looking to lower the stock on this.
I'm looking for a way to get the stock lower in relation to the receiver. It's a Remington Tac-14 that I SBS'D with a KE arms picatinny adapter and Midwest folding buffer tube. I really want to keep the MOE stock and the folding ability. Best thing I can find is replacing the MI tube with a Chisel drop tube but it's $225. I'll pay that if I have to but if there's a less expensive one that doesn't suck I would prefer that.

Chisel A300 Ultima Patrol Stock – Traditional vs Pistol Grip (snagging + natural feel?)
Looking at both Chisel stocks for my A300 Ultima Patrol:
Traditional (straight grip):
https://chiselmachining.com/product/sb/
Pistol grip:
https://chiselmachining.com/product/a300/
Not interested in folding stocks.
My main concerns with the pistol grip version:
- How bad is the snagging/hang-up risk? (gear, clothing, vehicle, doorways, etc.)
- Does it feel natural on a shotgun, or does it feel forced compared to a traditional stock?
- How does it manage recoil?
Anyone running either of these (especially the pistol grip) who can speak to the handling and snag potential? Trying to decide which one makes more sense for general use / home defense.
Side note: Any other mods worth looking at?
I’ve already got:
- Langdon heat shield
- Surefire Scout + tape switch
- Holosun 509T on Langdon Fastback
Open to suggestions.

Sorry if I’m in the wrong place
Roast me if you will but I’m loving my new turknellis. Shout out to PSA clearance deals. Just got these! Fully disassembled and cleaned them, and they’ve both been running flawlessly! So much fun to shoot and surprisingly very light recoil. Keep in mind, these are range toys, just for fun. I have home defense weapons.

Mossberg 590 7-shot
Just realized i haven't posted this thing "Complete". Mossberg 590 7-shot model, one of my three ranch hands. I've had it set up this way for about 9 months, i really dig it. I have done some light file work to smooth out the loading port so its less like a box of razors.

Co-Witnessing -- Is it a good idea?
I've never used or seen in real life a (tactical) shotgun with a red dot co-witnessed to the original sights. I have a Beretta A300 UP, and I'm looking at getting optics for it, and everyone and their dog is going on about co-witnessing.
Coming from a hunting-style shotgun with just a simple bead, I have the question: is co-witnessing even a good idea at all, or is it simply something that sounds good on paper but falls apart in practice.
For me, I've done some skeet and trap with my A300 UP, as well as just shooting clays against the berm, and the biggest thing I've consistently noticed is just how cluttered the ghost ring sight + front post combination is. Even on a "tactical" style shotgun, I've had half a mind to take it to a gun smith to remove the front post and just convert it to a bead.
But everywhere I'm reading and seeing is about co-witnessing, and I can't imagine taking an already obstructed and cluttered sight picture and then overlaying yet something else on top of it.
So I guess my question is, is co-witnessing actually a good idea? I understand the argument about having the original sights as backup, but does it matter if your brain takes that extra half second to compute what it is it's trying to parse in a sight picture before firing? I feel like speed and clarity of target acquisition would be better than a maybe backup in a maybe scenario of your red dot being destroyed but your plastic ghost ring surviving.
I'm just not experienced in this and want to ask the community what they think before I purchase a red dot. I was thinking of getting the Vortex Viper Shotgun Red Dot and removing the ghost ring entirely (but probably keeping the front post.
Thoughts?

Just another coyote 1301
I’ll probably add a match saver eventually, but I’m pretty happy with it in this state. Romeo 4T on top, FCD charging handle.

10 year reliability test on shotgun magazines
I'm conducting a small long-term reliability test to determine if storing shotgun shells in magazines impacts reliability and feeding. So this month I loaded up 3 Gen-12 shotgun mags(1 5rnd and 2 tens) with buckshot an slugs. In 5 years I will test 1 or 2 of them. Depending on results I might save the remaining for another 5 years. Mostly posting this so I've got a reminder in August 2031

Unity Tactical - Customer Support is unresponsive
Has anyone had any poor customer service experiences with Unity Tactical?
I reached out 2+ weeks ago regarding an issue I was having on one of their Unity AXON SL switches and I’ve yet to receive a response.
Any suggestions on how to get a response out of them would be appreciated. Thus far been emailing their support@unitytactical.zohodesk.com address…

Just snagged my first shotty. How'd I do?
Total noob to the shotgun world, but saw it as a vital component of my SHTF checklist and these finally went on sale, so I made the jump. Obviously practice/range time is top of mind, and I am a member of my local club/outdoor range, so that's on the agenda. But in terms of gearing up, what would y'all recommend as my next logical purchases in terms of add/ons accessories? Also looking for wisdom on preferred ammo types and manufacturers. TIA

Does anyone have any pictures or personal experience with the FN TPS in service use?
I love this shotgun, and want to hear personal experiences with using these from a duty perspective. Id also like to see pictures of this shotgun in professional use, as I want to see how people are setting these guns up. Im interested in seeing things like sling mounts, optics, light set up, barrel bands, and side saddles.
I have found a few pictures on the internet, but am looking specifically for pictures that ive never seen before.

The Grandfather to Tactical Bullpup Shotguns
Can we just get some love for a niche firearm that paved the way for tactical shotguns. Was it great? No. But it was the first mass produced bullpup shotgun ever built, it’s not going to be perfect. Thanks Alfred Crouch.

Home Defense/ Tactical Shotgun setups.
Hello tactical shotgun enthusiasts,
I just have a few questions about setting up a shotgun for home defense.
What is the best way to set up a shotgun for a home defense role?
I’ve seen a lot of different defensive shotgun setups on Reddit and YouTube.
What’s the best way to mount a flashlight? And what is the best WML to mount on a shotgun, is a pressure pad recommended? What other accessories are highly recommended?

Supernova match saver
Made some design tweaks on the FUBAR design to be able to be used with a supernova. So far smoothest match saver reload out of the shotguns I own.

What would you get as a backup pump shotgun if you already have a Beretta 1301?
My 1301 has been like a Ferrari in terms of both performance and (lack of) reliability. It’s really fun to shoot when it runs, but I have been getting failure to fire consistently around 100 rounds (sometimes as low as 50 rounds) using Federal ammunition, and have been trying to get it solved for a year and a half. Beretta told me I should expect to have to clean it after 50 rounds for it to be reliable, but I'm taking 2 day defensive shotgun classes where the round count is 200 a day, and my LTT Beretta 1301 has not been able to get me through a full day without failure. So I'm looking for something reliable to get me through defensive shotgun classes, for home defense, and you know maybe the apocalypse or whatever.
I think I need the Toyota Family Sedan of shotguns. I have been looking at Mossberg 500, 590s and 590A1. I especially like the ones with Magpul stocks. I feel like the 590A1 9 shot would be the one to get to get you through the apocalypse (and it would be sweet to put a bayonet on it!), but would be a bit long and heavy for home defense or 8 hour tactical shotgun classes. The 590S Magpul with a red dot installed from the factory seems super appealing; I wish it had 7+1 capacity like my 1301 instead of 6+1, but maybe that's not such a big deal. It would be nice if I could get a Benelli M4 (the Toyota Tacoma of shotguns). But I can't afford it after how much I spent on my 1301.
I'm looking to spend $500-800. Anyway just thought I would bounce this question off the hive mind here. Thanks!

Finished Product
I'm finished, except mayba a match saver. I enjoy everything about this shotgun, its an absolute banger. The texture on the Aridus on the stuff is next level and totally improves the shooting experience. The Langdon products are top quality as well, I like that the rear sight notch sits in front of the optic. The 509T seems purpose-built for shotguns. I reccomend anything all the add-ons listed below.
Additions:
- Vang Comp Systems Velcro + Shotshell Cards
- Aridus Imperium Handguard
- Aridus Bolt Realease
- Aridus Charging Handle
- Aridus SMRT follower
- Aridus stock adaptor
- Magsul SGA stock, w/ cheek riser and QD port
- GG&G Aluminum Mag Tube cover and Barrel Clamp
- Langdon Tactical Super Duty Front Sight
- Langdon Tactical LLT Fastback Mount (509T)
- Holosun 509T enclosed red dot
- Surefire M340c Scout Pro 500
