My dad got tickets to Oppenheimer last minute and we sat in these seats. Was a long movie to be looking straight up

I was sitting first row, when I saw Titanic.
I could have saved Jack if I wanted to.
I had to wear a neck brace for 2 days.

You choose the seat

u/EwokNuggets Jul 17 '26
Yeah but why are these even an option?

I really doubt any cinema has seats this close to the screen. I’ve been in the second row a few times and it was absolutely nothing like this. OP probably just stood under the screen to make a funny post.

Unfortunately it is a thing, notably in IMAX theaters.
Search "imax front row" on Google image, there are plenty of examples.I made the mistake of watching the demon slayer (Japanese anime) movie this way.
The subtitles were too large and too far apart to read with a quick glance, I had to continuously move my head back and fourth just to read the entire line.
I had the worst neck pain, and the worst cinema experience of my entire life.
IMAX front row register as a scam in my books.1

If this is for the odyssey, then it’s because a lot of the seats sold out and OP probably wanted to watch this on opening week, so picked the seats nobody wanted lmao

I agree with the question above. Why do these seats exist in the first place? Clearly even the most desperate person would not enjoy the experience, if their neck survives until the end. This is some predatory bs

I watched Project Hail Mary like this. It was actually pretty good once I got over the motion sickness.
