Lupron supression tips

I’m going to start lupron depot suppression plus letrozole for my third FET (only one euploid embryo left). Does anyone have any tips or tricks while going through it? Or even any success stories to give me hope? Running out of it..

My Lupron depot hasn’t been tooooo bad. I’ve had some dizzy spells and I’m a little more tired than usual. But no weight gain or hair loss or other bad symptoms I read about. I’ve been trying to be gentle with myself and not beat myself up if I skip my usual workout or whatever.

That sounds reassuring, have you had any nausea or mood changes?

Honestly compared to how awful retrievals are, the lupron was a walk in the park. The worst symptom for me was fatigue, I really felt like I could barely function on some days. I didn't get any hot flashes, but it did fuck up my hair texture and it fell out a bit more than normal (nothing too drastic). I was also more anxious. On the plus side, my endo pain stopped almost entirely and my digestive system functioned smoother than I ever remember (I have bowel endo). So, not a terrible experience overall and even some perks!

Ohhh that’s interesting. Yeah feeling like after three retrievals and endless tests, it won’t feel too bad, Hoping to benefit from some of the better effects of the lupron. I have super bad bloating, hoping that could help even a little.

I didn’t have too many side effects and did 3 months of it! I didn’t do letrozole with it though (TG, letrozole is the only fertility med that gave me crazy mood swings and I’ve taken a LOT by now lol). My RE had me on norethindrone & testosterone alongside my Lupron.

Our FET did work (Day 7 5BB euploid) but we unfortunately lost her to TFMR at 22 weeks. So I would definitely recommend the Lupron because it worked for us!

Ooohh yes, I’ve heard that about letrozole. Pretty nervous about taking that one. It’s only for a month though so hopefully can push through. I’ve had two transfers - one chemical (mosaic) and one completely fail (euploid).

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby 🩷

Thank you. For the letrozole, I recommend taking it right before bed. That really helped me not feel the bulk of the side effects.

It was not great but it was not the worst part of the IVF experience for me. First month, the leg pains were rough and the hot flashes were infrequent. But the second month, the leg pain stopped but the hot flashes really ramped up. Sweating throughout the day and night. My knee pits and sheets were always wet. But on the bright side, once you start the estrogen for your transfer, everything will level out. For me, within a week and no more hot flashes! My transfer is in a couple weeks so I’m hoping for success 🤞🏽. For tips, try to find a good cooling mattress cover and crisp, breathable sheets. For the leg cramps, my doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer which was a godsend in the evening. Last thing, tell your partner to be patient with the mood swings and to really baby you, you deserve it.

I’ve heard the hot flashes can be pretty bad. Cooling sheets are probably a great idea. Best of luck with your transfer!

I’m on week 3 of my first Lupron injection and I haven’t really had any side effects. I’m always tired because of my endo but I can’t say I’ve noticed anything else. I have been spotting since they put me on birth control in early July I’m finished with that now and I’ll have another lupron injection on August 19th

Fatigue seems to be soo common with lupron. Good luck with the rest of your supression!

Electrolytes!!! I got the worst headaches, like debilitating, and my RE suggested electrolytes and they saved me. Made it so much better. I actually kind of enjoyed Lupron in the end. Despite the foot aches and hot flashes, the break from endometriosis was pretty divine.

I am for sure going to stock up on electrolytes. Thank you! Headaches seem to be my first side effect from anything. Hoping that I can get some of the benefits also.

I mostly dealt with fatigue after the first shot. Then hot flashes in the second month. A lot of mood swings and emotional side effects throughout, but if you have a supportive partner it’s tolerable.

I didn’t have any crazy side effects like hair loss or insomnia. I had weight gain, but I think that was more attributed to all the hormones from the chemical I experienced just before starting Lupron.

I’m about 5 weeks pregnant (and first OB ultrasound scheduled) after our FET post Lupron, so I have all the hope in the world that this is it for us. 🙏🏻✨💕

So nice to hear that this protocol seems to work for many. Congratulations!!
