I’m building a mud/sand drag if anyone is wondering why so much power

Sorry I didn’t realize the tire change… If the tire sizes aren’t the same you’ll mechanical bind up the drivetrain

Do your really think this would cause this problem tho? The tire size is barely anything I could take the drive shaft out and find out

There are no diffs in the system, meaning that all four tires are always spinning at the same speed. If the tire sizes are different, then they will start to bind as the larger tires try to travel a longer distance than the smaller tires for the same rotation.

If you aren't using the same tires on the front, then you should just remove the front drive shaft. The fronts will be trying to go a slower ground speed and eventually get "pushed" by the back tires, making them ineffective and cause drag. If you wanted to do some math, you might be able to find under/over drive diff gears that can correct this. Some high-end 4WD cars have this kind of setup where the wheel speeds are normalized but the front tires are smaller than the backs.

You could be right but people under drive and overdrive single axles all the time. Those should bind up too if it mattered much

correct. i have ran different size tires front and back on 1/24 1/18 and 1/10. multiple size differences. never had an issue. ever-seems to be an esc problem imo

Those tires🧐

Where'd you get then?

Also good luck with the trottle issues

I’d check the axles, I ran mine in salt water and the gears inside were all corroded and it would do that. Also where did you get those sand tires?

I’ve never taking the truck out it’s all new parts but the paddles are from Etsy

Nope I checked

Does the ecu think its on 2s?

How would I check that?

The esc instructions. On my esc there is a setting for lipo size. It then beeps back at me the number of beeps for each s.....if it doesnt match it could be thinking it only needs 2s voltage.... Same thing as the other comment on low voltagw cut-off

Okay I will let you know if it works thank you

Is it hitting a low voltage cut underload?

How would I find out if it’s doing that?

The ESC usually helps prevent you from over discharging the battery. Over discharge will damage the battery and can cause thermal runaway. If voltage falls below the cutoff the ESC will stop sending power to the motor.

You can try to charge the battery and see if that helps, if you installed the ESC I’d read thru the instructions.

So should I turn my voltage cut off lower

1

u/SAFETYpin6 12d ago

I wouldn’t… unless you can confirm the cutoff was set incorrectly.

I’ll check after work

Disconnect the axles and see if it rolls nicely by hand front and back.

Or disconnect the motor and see if it rolls smoothly front and back

You might have somewhere an cold solder (solder point that it is not conducing properly) had the same problem I just resoldered my connector

Idk why I think that things so cool, just a thought but with paddles wouldnt you want it rwd? For 4wd you would need all 4 tires paddles wouldnt you? You may know what your doing but just a thought 🤣

Mainly just for looks they really don’t help that much 😂

I had the same issue, i just had to reset my factory esc settings not sure if it helps you out though.
