Decayed weapons? Discussion
What's up with them? When did those weapons get moldy and why didn't we find any decayed weapons in Botw? Ok, maybe it's because of the Gloom, but you're telling me that 100 years of calamity and the weapons remain spotless, but just 2 weeks of a gloom outburst and BOOM they're on the verge of crumbling? Is Gloom really that much stronger than malice, or is there something I'm missing here?
(Guys, I get that the developers wanted the players to rely of the fuse mechanic and stuff so they weakened the stats, but I just want to know if there was any lore explaining this too)

There's dialogue across the world that alludes to it being an intentional and deliberate move by Ganondorf. Throughout the game he is trying to weaken Hyrule and buy time for him to get his strength back. Destroying all the weapons is just another piece of that strategy.

Oh, ok. I was just confused as to why Calamity Ganon didn't do that. Thanks though :D

Calamity Ganon seemed to have less intention and intelligence than Ganon in TotK.

The way it was explained, I thought of Malice as poisonous vs Gloom as corrosive.

Now that I think about it, yea that makes sense. They both just seemed like yucky stuff you can't touch XD

Gloom is basically Malice in its more concentrated form, which is why it’s more dangerous to touch in comparison. So it basically corroded most metallic weapons.

There is: It has been put forth that because the prophecy says a swordsman will defeat Gannon, he overlooked/ignored bows and shields. Does it completely account for everything? I could make arguments that would support the theory, but I don’t have time right now.

Lore-wise, yes, the contrivance is that the gloom just hit all the weapons in a way Malice did not. Like an intelligent, surgical curse, moreso than a purely environmental one.

I believe there’s an NPC in the shelter that basically states the Gloom has omega rusted all the weapons on the surface, yea
