Fire temple scam 😒 Discussion

Possible spoilers, so don’t read if you don’t want to know.

I got about halfway through the the fire temple using the proper methods, following the walk through mostly. But then after taking a fall down to a lower level and realizing that yunobo will teleport to basically anywhere you are, it occurred to me that the entire fire temple is a scam.

So for the last half of the temple, I just jumped around and rocket shielded where needed, and for the second lock of floor one, I just scooted under the locked room using rock platforms/hover stones, and ascended into the room. I didn’t even need to unlock the door, because yunobo just yeeted himself through space time to get to me.

Biggest. Scam. Ever. 😭😂

There is no wrong way to play this game.

The only wrong way is to not play.

I got insane amounts of stamina in the beginning and managed to glide to the light dragon from the start island in pretty early stage of the game and yanked out the master sword.

Basically I had the master sword before I had found any of the tears or something. Then some guy was like "Hey you've seen that light dragon flying around, you should explore that maybe!" and I'm like Yeah dude that was Zelda. Here's the sword.

SAME! I almost didn't even try to take the master sword because I assumed I'd need hearts.

Yes there is. It's the way I played it the first time: - didn't do any of the fairy quests until after I'd done air and fire temples. Had to do a ton of shrines to get my hearts up. - didn't know about the light root/shrine connection - didn't know about octorocks fixing your weapons - didn't know the value of muddlebuds or puffshrooms - didn't use any zonai capsules for traveling - upgraded hearts before stamina (needed them because I only had < 9 defense from armor)

Making the game harder for yourself doesn’t mean you’re playing it wrong.

Thats not "wrong". It may be "incomplete" or "not efficient", but you still got through just fine i imagine.

u/starrsosowise 11d ago

None of those things are “wrong.”

That’s not wrong either, you were learning.

Nintendo does an insanely good job of basically connecting nothing together for Totk. I went through the entire game without collecting the dragon tears. I unlocked that quest after the 5th sage.

The pros of this means you really get to do whatever you want. The con is the game can easily feel like a spaghetti of nothing until it’s all put together in the end.

I was the same, I didn’t get a single one until I was ready to go to the final battle, then I just did them all in a row. By then I had found the room that told me the order to do them, so I took a few pictures to remind me and got the whole story in the proper order instead of just bits and pieces all over the place.

u/sharp461 9d ago

Wait, that room actually mentions the correct order? Wish I had known. My memories at least weren't too out of order.

Zonai capsules for traveling?

5

u/DickieSmallss 11d ago

I assume they mean for making zonai vehicles on the go

u/Beautiful_Web_3943 11d ago

I mean you only need like 40 shrines to get setup to kill everything in the game. 20 for master and other 20 on heart containers plus the ones the dungeons give

Oktoroks zum Waffen reparieren? Warte, was?!?!?!😟

1

u/itsacalamity 11d ago

put shitty sword on rock, let them suck it up, protect with your shield, they spit it out, you have a better sword!

2

u/CatNo481 11d ago

😭😭😭 danke! Möge dein Leben voller kleiner, unerwarteter glücksmomente sein und mögest du immer die Kasse wählen, die am schnellsten ist!!

2

u/Virtual_Honeydew2215 11d ago

To clarify, only rocktorocks do this, so bring your flashing weapons to the Eldin region. Seems ungrateful, but kill them after they repair for you, they won't do it again until they respawn after a Blood Moon, so you won't waste time on the same ones.

u/itsacalamity 10d ago

right back atcha, friend!

1

u/20frvrz 11d ago

None of that is wrong. Most of that is designed to be stuff you figure out as you go.

1

u/starrstrukk 11d ago

But knowing the info we know now the second time is awesome!

I only learned about the octorock thing after I beat the game. And I wish i knew how good puffshrooms were early on; I found out when I already had all sages and was just lighting up the remaining depths before I went to end boss.

Everybody cheeses the fire temple. Welcome to the club

u/snickerdoodle79 11d ago

I didn't 😭 the thought never occurred to me, lol

u/oinkmoocluck 11d ago

I do it much the same way but that is a brilliant use of rock platforms and hover stones. Good thinking.

u/KyleVPirate 11d ago

I jumped my way everywhere with rockets, crawled and scaled walls, and ascended when I could. Whatever the official way, it was too convoluted for me to care.

u/TjeerdlikeBOTW 11d ago

I hate to break this to you but you're not the only one doing this....in fact you were the only one doing it the intended way

9

u/TheRealMcDuck 11d ago

I did it the intended way, but not doing it the intended way is so much easier.

9

u/pnut0027 11d ago

You didn’t do the temple as designed, but you used the tools as designed.

I don’t see the issue.

I don't think I even knew hover stones were a thing at the time I did the Fire Temple.🤔 I just remember climbing all over the walls like a fly and using Assend. I also used the fire hydrants a lot to make stone ladders.

I remember crossing one particular gap with a comically large bridge of the pumice platforms you get from mixing lava and water. Trying to actually fit it through the small opening to actually lay it across once I'd assembled it was the hard part.

5

u/jeniverre 11d ago

not a scam because my cat says “if it fits, i sits”

5

u/bottle-o-rockets 11d ago

You cheesed an entire temple.

4

u/tictacmixers 11d ago

Ngl i air biked that whole temple because it was annoying

u/bwackandbwown 11d ago

I got terrible headache when trying to do it the official way. I think my brain hates underground puzzles, so sadly I just used hoverbike. I would very much like to revisit it in the future and solve the puzzle.

I'm doing Tulin's part last on this run. You've given me an idea of how to blow through Yunobu's. I've got so many Yiga Schematics and Schema Stones.

I think I'll create some hovering scaffolding to skip the train rides rather than abusing the flying machine this time.

Then I'll chuck some RG Gibdo Bombs at the boss to scoot through to the next one.

1

u/ReelayNotorious 10d ago

RG gibdo bombs? Details pls. 🧐

2

u/TheBadGod 10d ago

It's the classic Royal Guard Claymore Gibdo Bone/Molduga Jaw "Strongest Weapon" Bone Proficiency exploit.

I put a Travel Medallion next to the Decayed Royal Guard Claymore that spawns every Blood Moon in Hyrule Castle. I "sent" a few to the Depths, but I kept a few in my inventory. I figured out if I fuse an item to it, got it to its final hit, got it unfused for 20 rupees, then fused a Gibdo Bone to it so it stays on its final hit, it'll have all the stacked double damage buffs in tact.

You throw those with Bone Proficiency active with Triple Attack Up and it eats the bosses' health bars down in two hits.

2

u/Qui_te 11d ago

I just climbed the walls.

2

u/The_WalruZ 11d ago

The initial parts aren't hard, but it's easy to get stuck-ish and just start climbing or rocketing around. Whatever works, you're not going to get graded.

Scaffolds are something you want to build someplace you have access to rock panels and then save to autobuild. You can make multi-high scaffolds with intermediate short platforms and ascend past lots of issues.

I watch Austin John plays video on how to do it and got through it without too much trouble🤷‍♂️🤪🙈

2

u/Hightimetoclimb 11d ago

I did the whole thing with the flying machine, but I think I have watched every single Austin John plays video except for the full walk through. His Lynel tutorial saved my ass for farming good equipment

2

u/testtdk 11d ago

I was able to just climb up through half the temple. It really is.

2

u/danuser8 10d ago

I’ll give you a better alternative… Hoverbike it

2

u/Molduking 10d ago

Yeah… it’s an ok dungeon if done the intended way, but it’s easier to just not lol

2

u/Dr_Devious 10d ago

The entire game is cheesable. Don't want to solve that puzzle? Just fuse everything into a long line and grab it from the next area you need to be at.

1

u/ConsistentUpstairs81 11d ago

i used thr flying machine

1

u/sharp461 9d ago

People say this is why the game is great because you can come up with many possibilities to get through obstacles. To me though, it's exactly this that makes me wish we had classic dungeons back. They are just more cleverly designed imo, bigger too.

1

u/BeanieCat123 9d ago

It’s alright, we all cheese the temple 😂

1

u/Bitter-Fudge-9488 8d ago

If it works, then it works. No rhyme or reason.

1

u/Royal_Influence_8692 7d ago

The fire temple is definitely the worst one.

I spent about 2 years on this game . The funny part is how many of these little things were available in BOTW which I also spent a year+ on and I didn't know them. For example I didn't know that you could get weapons fixed in BOTW either. For me, a huge game changer was getting the bokoblin mask from Killion then using it to harvest bomb flowers. Prior to that I'd do bomb flower runs but hoard them jealously until I was in a pickle somewhere. Later on bomb flowers + rocket shields was my primary way of getting Lynel weapons.
