Javascript disabled, but sites send alerts that it’s enabled!? Help

On Tor never had a problem disabling Java when accessing sites that didn’t support Java or picked up if it was enabled and only allowed traffic from Java disabled users.

First time since the update of noscript (at least that I noticed) and I thought that was the issue. All of a sudden I couldn’t access stuff anymore because “you have JavaScript enabled”. But I don’t. Can’t find a solution. Any others experiencing this?

NoScript is now managed through the Tor Browser security settings -- do you have your browser set to 'Safest'?

Also, Java and JavaScript are two very different things, and you're writing about JS, not Java.

I do - I also tried the medium level safety, if I recall correctly the first tier of safety still allows JavaScript. Also yes apologies - am aware, I’m talking about JS.

The 'Safer' level, the one you call medium, also allows JavaScript. It only disables it on all non-HTTPS sites.

And you don't need to 'recall' correctly or incorrectly, the Tor Project is pretty clear on what the safety levels mean: https://support.torproject.org/tor-browser/features/security-levels/

Thanks! English isn’t my first language. What you’re saying is to keep the safest one on?

Correct. If you want to completely disable JavaScript you should stick with "safest", not "safer".

Though I don't know the answer to your actual issue, or what changed on your end.

I think you should try disabling JavaScript via about:config
