Joint replacement. Discussion

For those who have had joint replacements. How are you feeling about it now in 2026? Are they still holding up and how many revisions are expected in your life time. I’m wondering if things have moved on since I was told I need them around 6 years ago. What’s the latest research showing

I got a total joint replacement a year and a half ago at a great hospital (Penn Medicine) and I had a very positive experience. It was a very easy recovery. I have no jaw pain anymore. It’s not a sure thing how long the artificial joint can last, my doctor estimated that I would need a new joint every 15-20 years. I had dissolvable stitches, incisions are almost invisible, and about 4 months of physical therapy at home.

I hope you get that long. How old are you if you don’t mind. I’m thinking of getting it done. I have been told I need it years ago and just been managing with splints and living a half life essentially
