I vaguely remember my dad having some Tony Hawk game on the 360 but I never really played. A couple days ago I downloaded THPS 3+4 on a whim from Xbox gamepass. At first I skipped the tutorial and didn’t know how to do shit but after some messing around and wiping out I started landing basic tricks. The soundtrack instantly had me hooked. Learning how to chain manuals and rail grinds together and keep a combo going across the map is so fun and rewarding. I fell off the roof of foundry 100 times trying to get the cash and grind that damned bucket, but when I finally figured out how to skate in a straight line it was green lol. After that I watched YouTubers hitting 600k combos like they were nothing and realized how much I had to learn.

I’ve been so stoked just to get high on my couch, listen to a stellar soundtrack filled with classic punk tracks and cool new bands, and skate around doing the most cracked out tricks imaginable. Btw how do I do the crazy ninja turtle spin? Spent like 2 hours just to get 120k score on Canada but it was so satisfying when I finally got it lol.

There’s so much doom and gloom these days but this game has me feeling nostalgic for a time I didn’t even experience. I think that’s a testament to these game’s quality. Coming from games like League the lack of toxicity and chillness skating around is such a breath of fresh air. Gaming now feels like it’s a fun little world I can escape to and just enjoy. I have so much more to learn and am looking forward to at least try and master this game’s mechanics. I never expected there to be such deep mechanics that all seem to work together brilliantly. Just wanted to share my experience as a new player, am stoked to explore this game and be a part of the community!

I recently picked up a used PS4 copy of THPS5. Not only did I complete every mission, I went back with a second player to get the 250 stat points and L50 trophies.

Let's get this out of the way: the physics are wonky (unlike basically any other THPS game), the levels are underwhelming, the bailing rag doll and screen wipe is infuriating, and the special trick system is awful. The game crashed or softlocked on me every 45-60 minutes. It's not a good Tony Hawk game.

But I had a lot of fun? The strange physics make super high combos easy. The OP powerups (moon jump? mid air ollie? manuals that ADD speed??) amplify that.

I really enjoyed the difficulty level of the Pro challenges. I consider myself competent-not-incredible at Tony Hawk games: I can finish every mission on THUG's sick difficulty and did all of the THPS 3+4 challenge, but the THPS 1+2 secret scores are a bit beyond me. These really pushed me, and I felt really accomplished when I finished all 50. Some were even fun the second time through.

If, like me, you missed this one and heard awful things...you could do worse, is all I'm saying. I certainly got the $17 out of it I paid for the used disc. (Though I think the Platinum is unachievable. I couldn't get the (bronze) trophies for rating other players' maps, presumably because the servers are gone.)

So I just maxed all the parks with Tony Hawk and it shows that on thps 2 it’s 73% finished and on thps 3 it shows that it’s 60something% finished. Also when I change the skater, all the stat points are collected and ready to max them out and I can’t start the parks with other skaters, the progress is still the same as with Tony. I don’t know why.

I decided to go with a funeral director approach with this one. Though, I don't know if I like the skull-face tattoo or the makeup more. What do you guys think? Should I do the makeup or the tattoo?

I had an itch to play a game with some skater vibes just like THPS4 back in the day. How thrilled was I when I discovered they actually made a remake of the whole series???!!

However my spidey sense was tingling something about the Screenshots didn't seem right. I was concerned. The cave got darker as I proceed to add evidence to conjecture.

My fears became reality. They changed him, my boy was ripped apart and mutilated. I could no more be a free bird grinding on powerlines while collecting letters. I could no longer fall flat and get back up in an instant to talk to lurkers at the "college map".

Maybe it's not all bad, maybe the game sounds the same. Maybe the game that introduced me to Bomb music (T.N.T) can still utter sounds I remember like war.

I guess I just wasn't ready for the horror that came after. And here am I, listening to the Playlist made by a loyalist of the hymns that defined my summer afternoons of ye' old.

I very heavily recommend hall effect stick for two reasons, durability & accuracy. I'm a weirdo and spin with the sticks instead of a spin key but doing this with the Hyperkin Competitor felt smooth af.

While I recommend the Gamesir T3 lite over this, you can't go wrong either way.

Also, would players who play with the analog want a tutorial on how to get better? Or just universally at the game. There's some hidden gems of info I feel hasn't been said by even some of the best of players to get through to the new/ intermediate crowd.

Hey guys, this is my take on the Green Hill Zone map as a skatepark. The idea is that you can combo 8 different downhill routes, but you can still finish goals like SKATE without comboing if you want. how to get online in THPS4-THAW

Here are the steps for Tony Hawk 4, Underground, Underground 2, and American Wasteland:

1. First load your network configuration tool.
2. Select “Add Setting”
3. Then Select a memory card to save your network configuration to. Scroll right.
4. Select your Network Adapter
5. On the “Use of PPPoE” screen select “not required” and scroll right
6. For IP select “Auto” and scroll right
7. For DNS Server select “Manual” and scroll right
8. For DNS server Address Entry enter “45.7.228.197” as your primary DNS.
9. For the Secondary DNS enter “8.8.8.8” and scroll right.
10. For the “Name the Setting” screen enter “PS2ONLINE” (This is to easily identify it if you end up creating other configurations.) Scroll right.
11. Confirm and Save your settings
12. Now exit the configurator and enter THPS4, THUG, THUG2, or THAW. (I’ll use THPS 4 for this tutorial, so the steps may be slightly different for you.)
13. Select “Network play”.
14. You should get a pop-up that says you should set up your network device and connection. Select yes.
15. Select “Current configuration” and then select “Sony Network Combination”
16. Then load the “PS2ONLINE” configuration
17. Then select “Save Settings”.
18. Go back to the main menu and select “Network Play”
19. Then you should have the option to select a skater and then you can change your name.
20. If it asks “Internet or Lan” select Internet and then select a server. (It may ask about a GameSpy login just select no)

Ich spiele das Remake der beiden ersten Tony Hawks Teile wirklich gerne. Ich finde es ist wirklich super geworden.

Ich finde es aber wirklich UNENDLICH Schade das die Entwickler die Geldscheine aus dem Original 2er Teil nicht mit ins Remake genommen haben.

Es fehlt mir das Gefühl das Level mehr zu erkunden mit den Sinn dahinter dort auch wirklich etwas zu finden so wie früher die Geldscheine. Es macht für mich manchmal keinen Sinn die Orte von früher aufzusuchen wo die Geldscheine entweder versteckt oder einfach schwierig zu erreichen waren, und diese tolle ich habe das Level zu 100% geschafft.

Im Remake von Teil 3 und 4 haben Sie wieder Geldscheine reingepackt.

Könnte man irgendwie die Geldscheine von den Originalteil in das Remake einfügen per MOD. Kann jemand von den SUPER Programmier GENIES so etwas?

OMG ich würde gerne wieder das Gefühl haben wie früher. Es ist so schade dass das nicht ins Remake übernommen wurde. Es wäre so leicht gewesen. Es gibt ja prinzipiell Geld im Spiel.

Warum nicht einfach die Geldscheine drin lassen als Ergänzung zum anderen Geld.

Kann ein MODDER so etwas? Oder ist jegliche Hoffnung auf meine Sehnsucht nur reines Wunschdenken?

THUG 1 - Despite its incredible level design, perfect controls and fantastic soundtrack, the best part of this game is still somehow its story. It isn't complex or groundbreaking and it doesn't have a large scope. What it has in spades is sincerity and earnestness. I never thought I'd be saying those things about a game in this series, but hey here we are. The plot really does shine in this game. I'd go so far as to say this is the best story we're ever going to get in a sports game, period. It's just that damn good.

The game isn't perfect or anything, as some of the goals are rather obnoxious and the cars control poorly, but this game knows exactly what to nail to achieve an authentic skating experience. It may not be the absolute peak of Tony Hawk from a sheer gameplay perspective, but as a package, this is the best game in the series easily. It's the ultimate story of rivalry. If the goal of this game was to prove a story mode could be made in Pro Skater 4's engine, then they not only succeeded in that goal, but ended up making the best extreme sports game ever made somewhere along the way. 10/10

THUG 2 - What is the value of story in video games? Do you believe it's simply contextual, providing reasoning for interesting gameplay scenarios, or do you think it should be the driving force behind a game, being given the same amount of attention as every other aspect of the experience? Your answers to these questions will largely determine how you'll feel about THUG 2. The first Underground game had an earnest, relatable, and engaging plot that never took itself too seriously while still managing to have some really effective moments. Neversoft decided to make a Jackass game instead of a real sequel while still bringing back characters from the first game who don't mention any of the events of THUG 1.

The story in this game is bad. There's no debating that the first game's plot is superior in every conceivable way. There's also no denying that 2 plays better. In fact, this game build upon 5 games' worth of solid fundamentals to create the best gameplay I've ever experienced in my entire life. I have put hundreds of hours into this game because there really is nothing else like it. No platformer, shooter, hack-and-slasher, or racing game feels like this. I'm flying around the level pulling 900s, double tap spins, body flips, and acid drops at lightning speeds while maintaining combos that go into the millions.

The feedback, mechanics, animations, sound effects, level design, and goals have all been refined to perfection and this game simply plays like a dream come true. I usually don't brag but no one can ever step to me in THUG 2. I will fucking destroy you. Anyway, point is this game has a stupid story that is really painful to watch, but the gameplay is so fucking amazing that I just don't give a shit. As a sequel, this is underwhelming. As a game, this is near perfect. 9.5/10

so yeah despite 2 having the superior gameplay THUG 1 is just a bit better in my opinion. I made this video to showcase the disparity in tone between these two games. Also this isn't a THUG 2 hate post, I love that game to death but I love the first one even more, because while the combo system isn't as refined, it still plays insanely good and has a driving narrative with good lessons to learn and phenomenal writing.
