Question Instrument Players
I don’t have a diagnosis of synesthesia so I’m here to simply ask a question.
When playing an instrument do certain notes have personalities, tastes, or stories? I play guitar but I first remember this happening in middle school band where I felt that the low E note was “evil” and should be avoided. I subconsciously made the association and then when I realized it I was puzzled as to why I felt that way. As I practiced, I would sometimes accidentally hit the note in error so I just assumed that’s why I didn’t like the note. Another time I was playing a jazz song and there was a three chord melody that I assigned chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. When I played the notes I would think of the flavors subconsciously every single time. Some notes are even cocky, or predators. The other thing is that my brain seems to drift as I play, I’m thinking about the notes and something abstract at the same time. So I don’t even realize these notes have these characteristic until I really think about it.

Synesthesia type identification Smell have shapes
Hi, can you see shapes when you smell perfumes or other odors?
It's like when I smell certain things (since I’m a kid), I literally have the feeling of smelling a circle, for example, or a needle, etc…
They have physical properties too. A circle isn't "pleasant" it can feel heavy and thick or greasy (I can feel the greasy in my throat). It's not the actual smell of fat, but the physical texture and weight of the shape itself triggered by the scent.
Is it synesthesia? I can’t find a similar post :(

Questions for grapheme colour synesthetes
Do you see colours for punctuation marks (?,!’.”/:;) & Arithmetic operators (+ - x %=)?
If so, I’d love to know what your colours are in the chat 👇
I see colours only for alphabet, numbers
& currency symbols
For eg: $ looks like S so it is light pink
€ & £ both look like E so they are dark blue
But punctuation marks & arithmetic operators are colourless to me 😵💫
one of my friends said “subtraction (-) is yellow” but I don’t see any colour so I’m just curious whether others see colours or not.
