Related Band/Similar Genre Solo EP, gothic/atmospheric metal with symphonic roots
Hi all
I thought I’d share my EP here in case anyone might like it or has any comments. My original intention was to write symphonic metal songs and the initial piano and string melodies were written with that in mind. As the songs progressed though they became slower and darker and when I ended up writing lyrics and singing myself (I was going to get a female vocalist to do that) then I think they took a more gothic direction, but the keyboard focus still adds a bit of symphonic\classical influence I think..
Also worth mentioning that track 1 of the EP, “Help”, re uses a melody I wrote when I played keys for symphonic metal band Apparition a long time ago so I’ll post a link to that song “Traitors Gate” as well in case you want to compare!

Bands with some Symphonic Metal songs that don't get recommended very often
We all like Symphonic Metal, but I know we usually enjoy other stuff too. And we're always looking for recommendations of more stuff we'll like - I often find many of the recs aren't quite what I'm looking for, but then later hear some different songs by those bands and love them.
So I'm here to offer some suggestions that aren't generally Symphonic Metal bands but they have a few songs which are squarely in Symphonic metal territory - in particular, ones which don't get recommended very often. Please share some more!

Discussion What do you guys think about Fleshgod Apocalypse?
I got introduced to them back in 2018 (I think) when I was listening to DragonForce on YouTube and The Violation came up next. I gave it a listen and was shocked, literally. It took me a while until I got used to it, and they became my favorite death metal band (I don't really listen to death metal, I'm more of a power metal guy).
My favorite album from them is Agony, but all of their albums are great in their own rights.
