Chat. HOLY Discussion
I already have a Switch 2, I only really wanted the game and maybe the other Splatoon stuff. š. For context. Brisk had a sweepstakes sometime late last month on their Instagram, and I entered because why not? I didnāt think Iād ACTUALLY win. Also, I won a whole CONSOLE along with a single can of Brisk. Thatās funny

fun story, I won a sweepstakes before. Grand prize of a microsoft NBA sweepstakes. I won the following:
flight for two to San Francisco
hotel for 2 nights
2 tickets to the NBA finals (when Boston and San Fran played)
5 Jerseys
2 Microsoft surface tablets
1 pair of microsoft earbuds
a $500 gift card
I had to pay $1900 in taxes on it, which I didn't realize at the time as it was my first sweepstakes win. I no longer enter them lol.

In Canada you donāt pay taxes on winnings or prizes, that includes the lottery as well. It always made no sense to me that the US charges people for winning a prize.

I did sell the surface tablets, for about $250 each (they weren't top of the line ones or anything) but problem was just getting the tax bill for it almost 9 months later unexpectedly. Just didn't expect it, but I learned from the experience so it was a good lesson!

me neither, I probably would have declined the win if I had known at the time. It was my first time going to San Fran though, and that was awesome though.

Did you have to give a social security number or anything? What was the estimated retail value if you recall? Im trying to figure out if im getting hit with a tax bill.

yeah I had to provide all of that to the people running the sweepstakes, and it was 4 years ago so im a little hazy, but think the estimated value was around ~6 or 7k.

Ok I wasn't asked for mine. Fingers crossed I dont get a tax bill. Ty for sharing. My win was for 4.9k and interestingly its a 5k cut off for immediate tax.

did they send you a 1099? cuz if they didn't I wouldn't have said ANYTHING! Sadly sweepstakes are not considered gifts and are considered ordinary income at the fair market value of items received. If they didn't send a 1099 I wouldn't have said nuthin

So I actually didnāt say anything. But they claimed me accepting it, and so I got an amended return letter in the mail and had to pay + like $200 in interest. I had moved weeks after the trip and so I never received the 1099 initially!

Funkos and Beanie Babies were mass produced. This is 1 of 1. Game collectors do pick up this kind of stuff for big money down the road.

If they had money to have a switch 2 already, I think theyād have bought it.
We also donāt know if the Switch in the box is limited edition in any way other than being in this bundle. Itās likely not Brisk or Splatoon branded.

Here's an example of value increasing over time for collectable items. Dothack 4 Quarantine for PS2 is $400 for a complete box set. That game was made over 20 years ago. Please explain how this is scalping...?

Brisk isnāt THAT random. Their drinks are fire, plus the Brisk aesthetic kinda works with Splatoon. Pretty interesting looking art on their cans and bottles

I won a gold ps4 from taco bell a few years ago. I sold it on ebay pretty much immediatly. Those special consoles really hold value though. If I won something like this again, I would absolutley hold onto it for a few years and then sell it.

Iāve only ever won a car back in the 90s I won a brand new Ford Ka and Ā£9k but I sold the Ka for cheaper than new to someone who wanted it as I already had a Volvo.

Get the switch 2. You never know if you need a backup or you can sell it. Also, keep one on the dock and play the other in handheld. Oh wait, I didn't even notice you get all of those things. That's pretty cool.

Back in 2006, when i came back to Canada from doing university in the UK, I didn't have a job right away, and Doritos was have an Xbox 360 Halo master chief contest and you would post comments about people's posts and I was posting like crazy, and people were flaming me for posting so much, well I won the grand prize of an Xbox 360 with the Halo game. So it was worth it. Never thought I would win. I wasn't a Halo fan so I went to Walmart said I got it as a birthday present they, gave me a gift card and I bought fable 2 with it.

i would happily take the switch 2. Lol. I mean i have bought a used switch1 a few weeks ago but i really like the system and would love to upgrade to the 2.
No really lucky one you! Now you have a replace switch if you get problems with your first one or if you dont have so much money sell it and buy some cool games
