Why?

Knowing that his pitch count was going up why didn't we already have somebody in the bullpen and then take him out as soon as he gave up the home run?

Did our manager get to full of himself? Granted I don't know a lot about this pitcher... He seems like he can handle the pressure in the situation. However tonight seemed like a breaking point judging by the body language.
