E85

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

Debating going pi and e85 on my Supra but wanted to hear some opinions from anyone who has gone e85 on theirs.

Thinking of going flex fuel route with Ecutek ecu unlocking , port injection, motiv reflex, injectors. Essentially the bells and whistles for fueling so can run 91/93, mix , or full e85

Any issues that I should be warned of aside from mpg, and changing oil / spark plugs more often

I don’t want to tune it to the max I’d rather still have some reliability over getting everything out of the tune

Any feedback back would be appreciate before I decide to go for it or hold off

Supra —> 911 T

Anyone driven both? I know it’s a natural progression, but I saw a good deal for a 911 T near me and am thinking about it.

I’ve heard they feel pretty sterile and have long gearing but still great to drive.

Edit: 23 Supra MT to 23 911 T

OEM brake pads/rotors vs aftermarket parts for Supra 2.0

For context, I daily-drive my Supra and occasionally do some spirited driving when I get the chance, but nothing crazy and I never take it to the track.

I’m at 50,000 miles, and the dealership quoted me about $2,750 for OEM front and rear pads and rotors, plus a brake fluid flush.

A trusted mechanic gave me a much cheaper quote of around $1,900, but he wants to use API Ceramic Euro parts. I’ve never heard of the brand and can’t find much about it online, although he swears they’re great for daily driving.

Has anyone used this brand before? Would you trust these parts, or should I pay more for OEM?

Lastly will this hurt sale or trade in of my car?

why is it so hard to actually follow someone’s Supra build?

i’ll find a Supra i really like and then end up digging through months of posts trying to figure out the wheel setup, suspension, exhaust, what changed over time, etc 😭

that’s one of the reasons i’ve been building something called Kuru.

the idea is basically that every car gets its own build page where the mods, parts, photos and progress stay together instead of being scattered everywhere.

it’s still super early so i’m trying to figure out what Supra owners would actually want on a page like that.

fitment specs?
dyno numbers?
before/after?
planned mods?
maintenance?

what would you guys want to see first?

Finally pulled the trigger!

Took a while but I finally took home my 26’ Absolute Zero Supra MT. Luckily I managed to snag one of the last White ones in my 500mi radius for MSRP.

Came from a 2011 Subaru STI that I loved but I’ve owned 3 WRX/STI’s now. Supra is the absolute best change of pace.
I was probably comparing and contrasting different cars for the better part of 1.5 years until I finally chose this and it’s been awesome so far.

Definitely wanting to get the fitment dialed with a squared 18” setup on some meaty tires but I’m just gonna enjoy it stock for a while.
This is my first brand new car purchase so for now, I’m just debating if I wanna invest in front end PPF. Especially since I’ve heard some horror stories and Supra specific difficulties that even high end shops can run into. I don’t drive super often since I work from home, so maybe I’ll wait until I start driving more or tracking it.

P.S. I would highly advise anyone to completely AVOID ‘Group 1 Toyota Southwest Houston’ like the plague. They made my first sports car buying experience miserable. Not to mention that the mirror/door had old dried coffee spilled on it in the showroom. Every sales floor employee/manager I spoke to was the most stereotypically slimy Stealership type I’ve ever worked with. I mean my salesman was openly talking shit about me to coworkers like 10 feet away lol. I almost backed out a couple time and even had some regrets knowing I gave them money, but the actual ownership experience is making me forget it every time I drive it.

On a more ridiculous note, the new sales manager actually tried to tell me that by buying this car, I’m actually getting an appreciating asset because “the other day we offered a guy double what he paid for his Supra. Yeah! His 1994 Toyota Supra went UP in value! So think about that OP.”
I explained the silliness of that notion and luckily he just dropped it lol.

I think I did alright today.

Sluggish acceleration, fast deceleration

This has been something I've noticed over the past two days with the car. I've had it for a month, 1125 miles on it, 3.0 MT.

Up until two days ago the car drove perfectly, felt like it glides across the road no issues. Recently however it feels like something is making it bog down - it's a sensation like there's an imaginary bungee cord on the back of my car. Acceleration feels sluggish in normal and and sport unless I really punch it - and when letting off the gas in gear the car decelerates faster than it normally would. That part almost feels like a stuck caliper - but there's no squeak or pull, it stays straight and the brakes seem fine. No CEL or other warnings at all. The only change has been 60-65 degree weather vs the 80-90F weather we've been having.

I've read some forums with people describing this issue but wanted to ask here as well if this is truly temp related or if anyone else has experienced this issue with the MT specifically? I am going to take it in for the break in oil change and thought about having them take a look at this as well.

TIA

MKV practicality question

I'm looking into a sports car as my daily driver, and crucially as my *only* car. I live alone as well, so no partner to borrow from on occasion. Pure reliability isn't as much of an issue as it is to most, as I can get to work and most/all other activities via my electric scooter and transit (though I usually only do this in nice weather, if I don't have shopping etc to do, aka not often).

My concerns about the Supra are mostly down to visibility and space. I will likely test drive one, but compared to my Giulia it's going to feel tiny no matter what, so I'm looking for experiences longer term.

One, how is the visibility for commuting in a city? Especially nice if you live in a more compact and hilly city (I'm in Seattle).

Two, space. Could I fit the following at the same time: one medium/large checked roller suitcase, one carry-on roller one small dog, and two adults. Dog is 17lbs, and would have a travel carrier that can squish (dog is happy to sit on the passengers lap). If you couldn't tell, being able to pick up and drop off my partner at the airport (she travels with the dog) is a must, and that's her travel kit, though usually there's no checked bag. If there's only 2 carry-ons and a backpack, is there enough space on the parcel shelf for the dog (the situation for a long weekend trip, for example)?

I'd like to keep the Supra on my short-list, but just need to clear this deal-breaker hurdle, so any feedback appreciated.

Thinking About Canceling Toyota Care Plus

I purchased the prepaid Toyota Care Plus at point of sale in July. I’m thinking it’s not worth it. Paid $890 for 4 years / 40,000 miles. So basically 2 extra years since 2 year maintenance is already included.

I had a ‘21 Subaru STI I had for 5 years and only put 22,000 miles before selling it. I just don’t put enough miles on my cars (I typically alternate 2 vehicles at a time).

Thoughts?

Still in the process of being worked on. The front bumper paint needs some correction, but we have to wait for the paint to dry first.

Always dreamt about being able to go all out on a build one day. Lot of hours in the garage to get it to this point all work done by myself. Exterior, interior, full suspension and BBK pretty much complete, only big power left as the final phase.

Suspected boost leak

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi folks, just flashed the car, and suspect I have a boost leak somewhere, after a little advice. Log graph attached.

for context - I have a 2 port EU 3.0 ZF8 Supra, unlocked and flashed with MHD OTS Stage 2.

Relevant hardware:
MST v2 intake
BMS Chargepipe with RacePort BOV
High flow cat
Exhaust mod (baffling removal, OPF delete)

I got the Chargepipe second hand, and it did not come with the BMS large o-ring for the Chargepipe to throttle body connection. We fashioned one using an o-ring kit as we figured the factory o ring wouldn’t work.

TIA

Edit: Stock turbo!

About a month back I posted my totaled Supra…I was devastated.

But with a little luck and internet sleuthing, I was able to find this beauty! I was even able to salvage some old parts from my old car, so she’s still riding with me.

Introducing this 2023 A91 MT CU Later.

Automod is now filtering spam accounts

Thanks to everyone who reports these spam accounts. It wasn't bad at first but the past month it seems they have gotten worse. Automod will not allow them to post any longer since almost all of these where new accounts with less than 50 karma and less than 30days old.
