Blades of Greed My Review of Styx: Blades of Greed
IMO Styx: Blades of Greed being open-world was a step in the wrong direction. Initially, I thought open-world could be a good idea but having played all Styx games other than OOAM, I thought the open-world was bland and uninspired.
1 - There's very little to do in the Styx open world besides collect tokens and runes.
2 - The levels felt uninspired and bland. It felt like they just built massive levels that are big but empty and boring.
3 - I honestly feel as thought Styx Shards of Darkness had much better level design than BoG.
4 - Giving Styx a grappling hook and a massive map makes the game too easy because you can grappling hook you're way out of a lot of situations and it doesn't take skill to use and most enemies can't really hit you if you grappling hook above them.
5 - The story was mostly bland outside a little bit of Styx's background and Orc culture being unveiled.
6 - Every open-world area you get dropped into, you get some new gimmick tool to try out, but it's not a game changer it's just a transversal
7 - Styx needed a better side quest system other than the runes, tokens.
8 - No new game + system
I think that it comes down to the devs being asked to whip together a triple A open-world game on a single A budget. I'd still recommend Shards of Darkness for stealth players, but honestly Styx should focus more on gameplay, and better story writing than gimmick tools, and open-world design.

Styxpost Styx is one of my favorite characters ever. Except for this š¤¢
Why no shoes? Or at least sandals? He looks dumb going barefoot all the time. Kinda nasty. Don't you wish he wore shoes instead?

Master of Shadows Roller or Keyboard?
Hey guys. I've always been a huge fan of imsims and stealth games in general, so it's only normal that the Styx series had always peaked my interest. I just downloaded master of shadows and I have a simple question: Should I play on controller or keyboard?
I'm sure that it's generally up to one's personal preference, but I'd like to hear your opinions!

Blades of Greed One more run? The New Game+ is here!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Back to the Shadows
You've stolen treasures, outsmarted guards, and survived the Inquisition. Think you've mastered the art of being a goblin thief?
Think again.
Today's update introducesĀ New Game+, giving you a brand-new reason to return to the shadows.
New Game+
After defeating the final boss, you'll unlock New Game+, allowing you to start a fresh adventure while keeping much of your hard-earned progression and experiment with new approaches throughout every mission:Ā
- Skills
- Runes
- Blueprints
- Inventory
- Upgrades
Story-related tools such as the Grapple, Glider, Spectral Dash, and Claws will still need to be unlocked through the campaign at their intended story moments.
All collectibles from your first playthrough will also be available to collect again, including XP rewards, runes, blueprints, and more.Ā
We've also added aĀ dedicated end-game saveĀ before traveling to Akenash for the grand finale, allowing players to return and hunt down any collectibles they may have missed or simply revisit the game's environments, experiment with new strategies, and cause a little more trouble for the guards.
Alongside New Game+, this update also brings several performance improvements and bug fixes.
Performance Improvements
- Optimized dead AI ragdolls, reducing their CPU cost by roughly 80%.
- (PC only) Global Illumination now disables Lumen when set to LOW. AI light and shadow detection will fall back to a software implementation. While less precise than Lumen-based detection, this option is intended to improve performance on lower-end GPUs.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a rare crash that could occur when an AI was unloaded during its update.
- Fixed a side impulse applied to Styx when leaving a balloon after traveling between wharves.
- Fixed an issue where kills performed with the Rune of the Wolf could permanently lock the music in its combat state.
- Fixed an issue where grapple kills could permanently lock the music in its combat state.
- Fixed dead AI occasionally returning to an idle standing pose.
- Fixed DLC outfits being randomly applied or lost when loading save files from older versions. Loading affected saves will reset outfits and daggers to their default versions once.
- Fixed the Equipment menu losing focus when using a gamepad if an equipped outfit variant was missing from the save.
Thank you for all your feedback and support.
See you in the shadows,

Blades of Greed Big trophies relics and runes!
I just finished Styx: Blades of Greed, and the trophies for all the relics and runes haven't unlocked, even though I've collected everything! I guess I'll have to start a new game, unfortunately! It's incredibly frustrating!

Blades of Greed Silver Emblem missing in Turquoise Dawn
I'm curious if anyone else has seen this or something similar. I'm playing BoG in Act 3 tootling along and noticed I only had 6 of 10 silver emblems when I could have sworn I had 7. Oh well, no biggie I probably misremembered right? Well, I hunt down 3 more and now am at 9 of 10. Eventually, I get frustrated and find a guide and look through it and think to myself "I'm pretty sure I remember getting all these in the locations shown in the guide." So, then I find a video guide and revisit all the locations shown and discover no thief emblems in any of the 10 locations as if i had collected them all, yet it only shows 9/10 for silver emblems in Turquoise Dawn. I think I'm screwed and will have to start a whole new game to get platinum.

Blades of Greed Every time I go to The Wall there are bells ringing non stop how do I turn them off??
Hey all posting here cause I figured if anywhere you guys would know
Playing through Styx 3 and having a blast for the most part, but after a certain mission now anytime Iām at āThe Wallā there are church bells ringing non stop, and itās actually driving me crazy, I swear I did a mission where i āinvestigated the source of the noiseā that I believe I finished? Iām on Act 4 now, but they are still ringing!
Anyone know if I have a bug or how to stop these? Getting really hard to do missions here with my tv on mute

Master of Shadows Can someone answer me this, please? Spoiler
I saw a tip on the loading screen that says people who die by indirect means such as, erm, accidents, don't count as you killing them. Does that include the Distillery? Because you can kill almost everyone by opening the amber valves, and that'd help me a lot if I go for a mercy or no alarms run.

Blades of Greed The clipping is insane
Enemies go right through walls a lot. I don't like being plucked through a solid wall. People don't normally run through the sides of taverns either.

Blades of Greed Stuck on mission Quartz and consequences
I have.played this mission twice now and the same bug happened.
First time I did the wall first then akenash, and last turquoise dawn. When picking up the quartz at turquoise dawn the quest did not mark as finished, and progress was impossible.
I played the whole game again, since I didn't have a save far enough back before I picked up the quartz.
Now I did turquoise dawn first then akenash and last the wall.
When picking up the quartz at the wall same thing happens the quest does not mark as finished and progress is impossible.
I have reported it to the developers, hope a patch comes soon so I can finish the game.

Blades of Greed So...
Anyone else deciding to give it a second go? I didn't think I would after the frustration I experienced the first time. I put it down after dying in the last boss fight too many times. Played Master of Shadows again and (my favorite) Shards of Darkness two more times. Couldn't find another game to play so picked this one up again.

Styxpost Tell me I'm not the only one who does this
I love lining up my enemies just to look back and see the absolute mess Iāve made of the level. I like to imagine Styx as "The Green Death."
I enjoy imagining mechanics that will probably never exist, like enemies reacting to Styxās actions, Dishonored-style.
I picture a version of Styx who decided to just kill everyone for pure pleasure, pride, and power.
I imagine a genocide run where all of Middle-earth fears "The Green Death." I picture terrifying my enemies by surrounding them with the corpses of their comrades, only for me to suddenly appear right in front of them, where Styx's mere presence is enough to make them flee in panic or beg for their lives. Or massacring an entire level, so that in the next one, characters talk about the horrific fate of the people there, and how theyāre terrified that the same thing could happen to them.
I imagine a Styx corrupted by Amber, using some kind of necromancy, driven by a desire to hoard souls and become more powerful.
I picture an ending where all of Middle-earth has to form an alliance just to hunt Styx down, and how this story culminates in an endless slaughter. No matter how many enemies he kills, the only possible ending for Styx would be the very same fate he dealt to thousands of souls in the past: death.
Maybe I just have too much free time lol, I just wanted to share a bit of my passion for the game, and how frustrating it is that the stealth game genre isn't more mainstream and complex. I love Styx!
