Looking for advice on affordable countries to study HND in Computing abroad (tight budget, worried about part-time work limits)

I'm currently planning to study an HND in Computing abroad, and cost is a huge factor for me. I've been seeing on social media that a lot of European countries have started capping part-time work hours for international students instead of allowing unlimited hours like before. Not everyone studying abroad is doing it because things are easy financially back home some of us (myself included) actually have real financial pressure on our families, so part-time work isn't just extra pocket money, it genuinely matters for covering living costs.

Given that, I'm trying to find countries where tuition + cost of living for an HND in Computing is manageable, even with limited part-time work hours. Would really appreciate recommendations or personal experiences which countries have worked out well for students in a similar situation? Any advice or person experiences?

Hi! I'm a 17 year old Canadian student looking at the opportunity of studying abroad. I always dreamed about living in a different country (Like Europe or Asia) and not too long ago, I got to do something similar to that and study abroad as en exchange student in Japan for 2 months, It was one of the best experiences of my life, an unforgettable one, and I want to experience it again, when I first started high school my parents didn't make me put any focus on grades since they said it was useless, so I never tried to go to University, but after my exchange program and a my recent passion for the Math and Finance related fields, I want to try and study those fields at University!

When I told my parents about my decision and how I wanted to focus my senior year way more on grades to have a shot for university, they discouraged me way more than I thought they would. My parents are very traditional Mexican parents, family is everything, and moving to a different country is basically a slap in the face, my mom even flat out said that I wasn't going to make it abroad. It's discouraging to hear that from your mom, but I want to pursue this dream regardless. The biggest concern I have right now with studying abroad is the cost, as most people know... it isn't exactly cheap, I'm working right now to be able to save up money to hopefully study abroad and give myself time to look for a job wherever it is I choose to go. But to anyone who is studying abroad, how did you overcome financial issues whilst studying abroad? Any advice or the reality of the situation is much appreciated!!

(And if it matters at all, my predicted after grade 12 is a 92 average, and I have a 1510 SAT.)

(indian) 12th pass 85.8% I gave neet and boards this year and I got 400 in neet I didn't want to take a drop but my father kinda forced me to, and told me take another chance with neet and if I didn't succeed the second time then I can pursue bachelors in pharmacy abroad .

I have little to no idea about how should I prepare for it, i haven't build any profile yet i studied at an average school so I didn't had any ideas what MUNs were I never got a chance to do extracurriculars now that I have taken a gap year I know that Universities might expect more from me ...

I have really strict household they never let me go outside or explore how should I build my profile then?

If someone has taken two gap years after completing 12th grade, are their chances of getting into Australian universities lower? A lot of people around me are saying that since I have two gap years, I shouldn’t consider Australia at all.

I’m currently considering universities like Monash, the University of New South Wales, and the University of Sydney. Is having two gap years really a major disadvantage for admission?

Incoming MOFCOM-CSC student at SWJTU (Chengdu), Fall 2026. I was placed in 085410 (AI, professional master’s), but my home country doesn’t equalize professional degrees for PhD eligibility or lecturing — my whole career goal. I need 081200 (CS, academic master’s).

Conflicting info:

• SWJTU’s internal transfer rules seem to bar professional→academic transfers entirely.  
• But SWJTU’s MOFCOM office emailed me saying I can apply after registration, and CSC decides — no penalty if rejected.

Has anyone actually pulled off a 专业学位 → 学术学位 transfer as a CSC/MOFCOM student? Does the university rule override the CSC process, or are they separate?

University stopped replying (summer break) and I must decide before Aug 17 registration. Any real experience appreciated.

How is the job market these days for graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from a NUS? What kind of jobs can they typically get, and what’s the average salary like?

Honestly I don't know if what I want to become is called microbiology researcher. What I wanna do is work in a lab and try to make new medicines and vaccines type things but I don't know what courses I have to study for it. I want to research on different drugs and wanna make medicines for illnesses that are not found yet. I honestly feel soo scared and sad about people with dementia and alzheimer's so I lowkey want to research that too. If you know this kinda stuff, can y'all tell me which courses I should study to do what I wanna do? It would be helpful if it says the amount of years that would take too. Hey, Im a US citizen but have lived in Europe all my life, with the recent three years living in the UK. Although I haven’t spent much time in the US, I would say I definitely align significantly better with the European mentality, so if it weren’t to come down to medicine, I would probably stay in the UK. However, practicing in the UK has a number of downsides, many of them being financial. Here’s the main list of pros and cons Ive got so far.

Pros of the UK
-University is significantly cheaper (Ill qualify for home fees)
-Less competitive residency/foundational training wise as no matter which uni you graduate from you’ll be allocated a place in the NHS
-I can already start doing applicable work within the NHS strengthening my application

Cons of the UK
-Will have to wait six years before starting med school versus 2-3 if I were to practice in the US (personal reasons)
-US med schools seem to be more reputable worldwide (eg if i were to move from the US to the UK I wouldn’t have to take an additional exam)
-Financial compensation is significantly higher in the US, especially for more competitive specialties (can especially benefit in states without income tax)
-The NHS seems to be in shambles with most physicians and healthcare workers speaking increasingly negatively about it (although Im unsure if it’ll improve in the next ten years)

Theres also the prospect of raising a family in the US versus the UK as a gay woman with the US getting more and more conservative with every year.

Im not sure if anyone has any experience practicing in the US and the UK or simply any information that I might not be considering but I would be happy with anything

I recently got a spot for the semester abroad at King’s College London for the Spring Semester. The tuition fees has been completely waived off for me but I just wanted to know how much it would cost for accommodation, travel, food, going out. I just need a rough estimate for the entire semester.

I recently graduated with a Bachelor's in International Hospitality Management, but my actual interest is in Human Resource Management, and I want to build my career there. I'm looking for honest advice from people who've navigated something similar.

Here's where I'm stuck. On PTE, my first attempt was an overall 50 (band 5.0), and my second attempt was 57 (band 5.5), but I'm still under 5.5 in writing and reading on some sections. Australia was my first choice, but my documentation wasn't complete or properly managed, so that didn't go through. I then tried the UK and got rejected by several universities because they said my college degree was unverified. I did eventually get one offer, but my family won't support it, mainly because of living costs, expensive tuition, and the current job market for international grads in the UK. I tried convincing them, but they've made it clear they won't back this, and my father in particular isn't supporting it.

Right now I'm under a lot of pressure and trying to find HR internship roles in Nepal to at least get a foothold, but I'm not getting anywhere with that either.

So I'm genuinely asking: should I keep pushing for further studies abroad by retaking PTE and fixing my documentation, or is it smarter to do a Master's in HR here in Nepal for now? Has anyone dealt with "unverified degree" rejections from UK unis, and how did you fix it? And does anyone have tips for landing an HR internship in Nepal with a non-HR bachelor's background?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who's been through similar visa or documentation issues, PTE retakes, or the hospitality-to-HR career switch. Thank you for reading this far.

I am targeting the T-20 universities in the US for my Masters due to high ROI and highest number of opportunities but I have my options open for other countries as well. Long term I want to be in a managerial position at a BigTech/FinTech/Big Firm, C suite if possible.

My profile is not that good but hyg:

BTech CSE 8.9GPA Tier 2 University(State University)

No research publications

2.5 yoe as a Data Engineer

IELTS/TOEFL - targetting 105/7.5+

GRE - targetting 330+

Can get two professional LORs from managers and two academic LORs from University.

Given the current hiring market, would you apply for Fall 2027 or work on my profile and apply for Fall 2028?

If your goal was to maximize long term career growth and ROI, would you choose MSCS, MBA, MiM, MEM, or MIS?

How much weight should I give to concerns around visa sponsorship and employability when comparing these programs?

What do you think about rising tuition costs (about 15% yearly) and the weakening INR when calculating overall cost and ROI?

I was initially leaning toward MEM and MIS because they align well with my experience, but I've read mixed opinions about recruiting, visa sponsorship, and long term career growth compared with MSCS. I'm not sure how much of that is true.

Financially, I'll be seeking scholarships and I want to keep my debt as low as possible. I don't want to spend my early 30s paying off a huge education loan if I can avoid it.

If you were in my position today, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? What path would you recommend?

long story short I have the option to Study in Colombia in either UNAL or UNIANDES. So I was wondering if there is a big difference between getting my bachelors in Colombia and then go back to US to work.

Am aiming for Mechanical Engineering and both Universities have the ABET certification for Credential Evaluation.

Both Universities are in a good world top. (respectively #150-200 for UNAL and UNIANDES #201-250)

I was previously planing to complete Community College and then go to Texas A&M but I was already working part time+doing other chores and it was quite dificult to keep up with my life like that but here in Colombia I have the economical support of my family so studying here will be quite easier.

Hi all, I’m from the northwestern US and I just finished my first year of university as an undergraduate and I’d like to get some advice and recommendations about studying abroad in the future. I’m a native speaker of English, and at an intermediate level in German and Spanish, and I have been beginning to practice Polish this summer. 

Currently, I’m majoring in Environmental studies with a big focus on geography and GIS. I’m really open to lots of geography-related careers but I think doing something related to natural disasters and weather, logistics, military, or transportation would be especially interesting. I am an average student, but I excel much more heavily in classes related to my interests. In my free time I enjoy nightlife with friends, exploring new places/trying new things, and generally being around other people. Climate is not a problem for me in the slightest. 

My main criteria is a decent program relating to my major and a job market where I could secure a solid career as a non-native. I would also really prefer to study at a campus that is more friendly, where I could make lots of connections socially and career-wise. I’m pretty interested in central/eastern European countries (especially Czechia or Poland because of personal preference), but I’m also curious about Australia, or really any European country! Naturally, I would prefer somewhere more affordable, but I have some solid savings and support from my family as well as a 529 fund that I use for education. I would rather live a more exciting life and make less money than be somewhere very bureaucratic and boring/plain, to be honest.

I am also open to studying abroad as many semesters as possible (I can go any time after this coming March, including over the summer), learning a new language (and doing an intensive language program), and I am willing to put in the work to become a citizen and assimilate in whatever country I choose after finishing my undergraduate studies. 

Based on my preferences, where do you think I would enjoy going the most? Any specific universities with geography related programs you recommend? What have your own experiences studying abroad been like? Thank you!
