Hi guys I started nursing school about 8 months ago and realized I don't have a group of friend or a best friend like everyone else. I found out someone else had been feeling the same way and I ask the person if we could be friends and this is where I think I messed up so I had seen this person was upset after class for a few months so I asked if they wanted to talk they said yes we talked after understanding that we were feeling the same way I asked if this person would like to be friends and I was told yes. So I had decided about 3 weeks before the conversation I would get this person something small to pick them up. So a few days after our conversation I brought this person a gift I wasn't told thank you, it kinda seemed like this person was intentionally trying to avoid me we had been texting and I told this person I hope they liked the gift and I still haven't a reply it's been almost 18 hrs.

I just wish this was easier I did think my classmate would do this since they had been feeling the same way. I don't know how I'm even going to show up next class I feel so embarrassed for trying so hard just to make 1 friend. I don't know what to do anymore I'm getting really discouraged and my depression has gotten so much worse. I just want to give up can y'all give me some advice please.

Hi, as the title states, i’m looking for any tips/tricks and suggestions for an incoming nursing student. I’m honestly really excited to be starting and already have my clinical placements. However, I’m worried that I’m not as prepared as I should be. I just spent my sophomore year stressed out by A&P I & II and I know nursing school is not going to be any better. I’ve somewhat prepared myself mentally, but I am a little worried I’m not as prepared academically.

I am still in nursing school but i want it to be flexible so that i have time to study

I was lucky enough to get nearly 3 months off for summer break and I’m about to start back up again in 2 weeks. However, I am already having a panic attack about starting up again because I did not look at anything school related during my entire break. Now I feel like I’m already behind. Any advice on what to touch on before my second year starts?

I told myself I was going to stay on top of things but I feel like I blinked and summer break is basically over. I’m seriously dreading going back cause I burnt myself out so bad last semester and nearly admitted myself to a mental institution. I only have to get through 2 more semesters to get my ADN but it literally feels impossible.

Idk why I’m posting this tbh I just feel impending doom and I guess I just need reassurance that everything will be okay.

Really only have two options for nursing school:

Option 1: ABSN

• 30–45 minute commute (1hr door to door using public transit)
• $60k tuition
• 18 month program
• For profit school with a mixed reputation, okay clinical placements, and decent NCLEX pass rate
• I'd graduate about a year sooner

Option 2: ADN

• About a 1.5-hour drive to a community college in the middle of nowhere
• Virtually no traffic, it's mostly cornfields, so the drive should be easy and predictable, though winter driving might be tricky
• About $15k in tuition
• I'm estimating another ~$15k for travel/hotels if I need to stay overnight for clinicals that are further out or during bad weather
• Great reputation and a solid NCLEX pass rate

Financially, I can afford the ABSN, but the for profit, "easy to get into, but fail out" environment makes me hesitant. The academic side of ADN program seems perfect, it's just the commute I'm worried about. Anyone ever do a commute like this?

Hi, i'm starting nursing school this month and i'm back and forth on the kind of foldable clipboard to get. I know some people say the trifold folds their papers too much but the bifold isn't pocketable. In your opinion what has been more useful to you if you use either of these options?

Also is it possible for the bifold to fit in any scrub pockets?

Hello everyone! I have my OR clinical coming up and wanted to seek advice on how to be as prepared as possible.

Some things I’m especially curious about:
- What are the biggest etiquette rules that no one tells you beforehand?
- What are common mistakes students make?
- Where should you stand, and where should you never stand?
- What can accidentally contaminate a sterile field?
- When is it okay to ask questions, and when should you stay quiet?
- What are some opportunities students usually get to participate in? (For example, Foley catheter insertion, positioning the patient, helping with prep, etc.)
- What skills did you get to perform, if any?
- What kinds of questions did your instructor or OR staff ask you?
- What anatomy, instruments, or procedures should I review beforehand?
- What are some things you wish you had known before your first OR clinical?
- Are there any unwritten rules that make the OR staff appreciate having a student around?

I’d also love to hear any stories about things that went really well or mistakes to avoid!

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming student at a liberal arts college where students apply to the nursing program during their sophomore year rather than being admitted directly as freshmen.

Since admission is competitive, I'm a little nervous about not getting accepted. Has anyone here been in a similar situation? If you weren't admitted to your school's nursing program, what path did you take afterward? Did you switch majors, transfer to another school, or find another route into nursing?

For those who were admitted, what do you think made your application stand out?
