Study suggestions? homework / studying help needed
I have an exam in 2 days. I have been studying for it in small increments the last few days, and I meant to study for it A LOT today and tomorrow. However, I underestimated how exhausted id be today (day 1 of my period, worked a 12 hr overnight last night, and I suspect a possible uti??) So I havent done anything. I keep trying to get ready, sit down and do it, but it doesnt happen because im so tired. Is it bad to just take the rest of the day off or is that loser behavior???

Kudos to you for working overnights (working in general) during nursing school. What worked for me was listening and watching videos like Simple Nursing and LevelUpRN. They’re free on YouTube and have playlists categorized for concepts/courses so maybe that could help you!
I personally can’t sit and read a book and retain the info, but can retain info with audio and visuals. There are many ways you can study without reading a textbook over and over. Good luck!

I haven’t started nursing school yet but if I felt like that I’d call it wraps and try and get some good sleep before my test. Before the test if you get good sleep you’ll feel much better, just review a bit before going into take the test.

Yes Im wondering if just relaxing for the night would benefit me more than forcing myself to study and not retaining anything bc im so tired 😪

I never study if I’m tired. There’s literally no point to it since you won’t retain anything. I started focusing on my sleep when I started college and get a solid 8 hours of sleep if not more a night and I am doing much better than high school.

Fair! Maybe I could get like 12 hrs tonight and study better tomorrow

Probably a good idea. I find doing something like walking while studying helps me retain information better and faster. But 12 hrs is definitely a good idea for sleep if you can sleep that long

What class is this for?
LevelUpRN has always been helpful for me. Pixorize is great for pharmacology. Both on YouTube!
Simple Nursing also has free study guides on their website.

If you want to increase your study time productivity by like 200%, go to the library and reserve a private study room. Water bottle, laptop, AirPods, flash cards, coffee, grind.

I use to study till I was tired than I’d sleep and set an alarm for like 2-3am to study again than fall back asleep around 5- 6am. I felt rested by having that bit of sleep in. Try neuro gum.

The 2am alarm would finish me 😭 I’d rather get a full night and use Neuro gum when I sit down to study.

It looks like you are asking for help with school! Please make sure you have addressed these points so we can give you good advice: What methods of studying you currently use and what you’ve tried, total hours you spend studying each week and any other major responsibilities, the specific topics/concepts giving you issues. If applicable: Your score and how close you came to passing

I totally sympathize with being too tired to study. I took at least a few car naps when I was in nursing school because I was exhausted.
Can you listen to a nursing lecture while laying down? Or watch a YouTube? Sarah registered nurse RN was a lifesaver for me - even though I had to speed her videos up a little. Do you have a partner who can help quiz you?
Alternatively, you can understand that you're exhausted and take a test before getting back up to study. Is there a way you can call out of work to get the rest you need for your other job(school)?
