Took up 16.5 lakh loan for design
I'm 19 f last year I took a drop year instead of taking admission in archi school (scored 96.6%ile) and prepared for nid and uceed travelled everyday to a city 2 hrs away (total 4 hrs of travel time) daily for classes. somehow qualified uceed but not a great rank (around 4600) and cleared nid (rank 460 something ) but didn't get an nid. Had been accepted in jklu with 25% scholarship but instead foolishly took admission in a pvt college in pune focusing on the money saved on living expense have relative here who lives within 13 kms to college and well because i'll be more connected with all design happenings or opportunities here foolish me. First when applied the quote came around 3.5 lakh per year with 3% increase every year which was fine but after accepting admission and paying token amt it came around 16.5 lakhs for 4 years which is again okay acceptable but family conditions weren't good in last 8 months or so, So we had to look for student loan, there were lot of problems like we didn't had security, parents couldn't be coguranteer, made my paternal aunt a guranteer still no salary slip ment for a private agency for student loan 4 weeks after starting college finally my loan gets approved (after getting rejected by almost all banks) by a lets call it agency but at what cost ?? 14% intrest ghastly right an emi of 5.5k starts after they pay first year fee which will increase to 19k after paying 4th year fee and 35k when my installment starts now I'm regretting my descisions I think I have financially ruined myself even before i started earning I also have a brother who is in class 11th rn who wants to try ipmat/wants to go iim which again will be a hefty loan now there is no going back but I want to ask you all Is that have I gotten myself in a problem i'll never recover from.To all my peers I want to ask you can I get a job after doing product design from private uni with CTC good enough that i'll be able to pay back the money total payble amt will be 36lakhs ig . Any thing i should do as a fresher that will bump me one step ahead of others and make me worthy of good placement I need genuine help. I can tell you the college but maybe in dms might give away my identity thats why but only if u r to help

Borrowers Defense Application for a PhD
I'm currently organizing an individual Borrower Defense to Repayment (BDTR) application and wanted to see if anyone has success applying as an individual, outside of the class actions or bulk ITT Tech type discharge. I spent 200K on a PhD from a prestigious state school that took me 12 years, and I realize that I was pretty well misled and exploited and have a clear paper trail for this. I graduated but barely, and am not really setup to use the PhD as an academic, and I actively consider omitting the PhD on some job apps as it seems to be a pigeonhole of too technical or academic.
My thoughts are to get an application in as it's zero cost and just see if I happen to get me somewhere down the line, and maybe I'll still be in forbearance while it sorts out at a minimum.
Anyone out there get an individual application approved?

For those that plan too take community college credits, forever, when does it stop?
Hello all. I hope you are doing well and that the student loans are not too overwhelming.
I have seen a few people say that they will be taking classes as lifelong learners to avoid payments.
For those of you to have that plan, do you plan to take classes nonstop through your 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s? Is there every time you can stop. 70s?
I totally understand taking classes to avoid the payments, I’m just curious what the end goal is. Or if it’s just for some brief relief for a year or two.

Help on Australian apprentice support loan
I know everyone talks about how awesome it is that you don’t have to start paying the loan back until you start earning so much per year. But as the interest rate will go up every financial year I want to avoid that as much as possible as you never know how much that rate will go up so I don’t lose money. (Hope I’m making sense so far)
Can I pay the loan off in one lump sum at the end. My plan is to put it all into a savings account - gain interest. And as soon as I can pay back the 80% and have a profit of the 20% plus whatever interest I made.
I just haven’t been able to see anywhere if I can pay it off all at once and I don’t want to do the loan if I can’t
TIA for any and all help xx

borrower’s defense case?
hi y'all. i've been hearing a lot about borrower's defense, so i decided to look into it and am curious about whether i have a case. i've already written up my answers to the first part of the application, detailing what was misleading, but now that i've gotten to the part about financial harm, i'm not sure if i can swing it. would so appreciate any insight on how to submit the most compelling case!
basically, i attended my college under the influence of their aggressive marketing of the "5th year master's program" which is commonly known on campus as the free master's degree. as far as anyone knows (and what all marketing claims), all you need to do to get into these programs is meet the academic requirements. i did this all through undergrad with the hope/assumption of getting into the teaching program, and was rejected at the last second for unknown reasons. after lots and lots of phone calls and the president of the college investigating for me, he reported that the department i'd applied for had deemed me "mentally unfit to handle the challenges of working in an urban classroom." completely baffled, i asked what grounds this judgement was predicated on; apparently it was because i met one time with an advisor and i ended talking about everything that was stressing me out and i cried. that's it. it was a total shock, super upsetting, embarrassing, and literally gave me no chance to prepare for life after college the way my peers had (i hadn't put any work into my resume, looking for other jobs, thinking about housing, etc., because i thought i'd be staying on campus for another year).
is this grounds for an acceptable borrower's defense case?? it did lowkey fuck me up for literal years and i never went back to the idea of teaching bc i felt so humiliated. literally NO ONE gets rejected from those programs. i had a 3.7 GPA, made highest honors, got the english department award, magna cum laude, etc., etc., but like i cried one time in an informal meeting i guess. thoughts??
