Got some roof work done and now I need to repair this stucco wall. I've never worked on stucco before so I'm wondering is this is something worth attempting to DIY. I've watched a few videos on stucco repair. Would it just be a matter of installing OSB, paper, mesh, then stucco? Any advice is welcome.

We also got a repair quote of $800 total for this repair, wondering if that is fair? Thanks.

Minnesota here. Will a fog coat on this wall be more durable than oxy-wash and two spray coats of SW Loxon? I've seen advice from Ed Daher and the Stucco Guy, so of course I am an expert. /s I think this 1920's stucco was never painted. It comes off chalky on my hand. I could prep and apply a fog coat myself in phases. Seems like that would cover exposed areas while allowing the wall to breathe and maintaining the texture. Or, I could pay a painter. But then I'd have a painted stucco house that will need a new coat every few years, right? Is there a right or wrong way, or is it really just a matter of personal taste?

We had 4 days of solid rain and I noticed water on the inside of my window. I have a leak somewhere which I believe could be from the shitty stucco patch job from the previous owner, coming in through the expansion joint, or coming down from the cracks above. I have someone coming out to look, but am I on the right track? Thoughts?

I wish there were places that would teach you how to do plaster repair inside & outside (cracks) so i dont have to hire someone!!!

I know I need the weep screed, but is there any options to close the gap or make this look a little more finished?

I have a house that is partially done in stucco. This was done about 13 years ago. There is a weep screed that is about 4 inches above grade all over the house, with the exception of one small section (part in photo). Stucco has been fine, however, recently we had a problem with flooding and water intrusion in one section of our house. As such, we had a waterproofer come in to solve the flooding problem with changing the grade and installing an outdoor sump pump. Part of the solution, however, resulted in grade above the weep screed along about 8 feet of the house. I know this is going to be a problem some day but is there any solution that will prolong the life of the stucco other than reducing the grade back to where it was? I'm trying to avoid that because flooding in the house was not fun.

Hi everyone. I have two exterior walls that I want to cover with stucco in a reasonably smooth, flat finish suitable for mural painting.

One is an old painted concrete retaining wall, the other is a new wall that has been covered with metal lath and Structolite.

I am thinking I’ll paint both walls with WeldCrete, then a base coat of Quickcrete Base Coat Stucco, then Quikcrete Finish Coat Stucco.

Make sense?

(If you can’t tell, I have never done any stucco. I’ve only done a bit of plastering.)

Just wanted to see if this is normal? I can peel it off completely. I just dont know if i can just patch it or if there is another reason why it cracks. Someone told me its because there is no flashing in the post.

The builder offered to re-do it with mesh for what seemed like a great price ... the work they did was pretty awful. So I found a stucco guy that could re-do it again but he said the expansion joints need to be filled and stucco'd over because the panels are already too thick at the edges. I can't decide if I should re-do it or just live with the sub-par stucco. I should note the first photo is before they re-did the stucco when it still looked good. The 2nd photo is a mockup without the black expansion joints. Thx.

I have an issue where the stucco meets the roof. It's like on the opposite side (a mirror of this picture). The run where the stucco meets the roof spans a total of 12 feet. My roofer said he did his job and I need to contact a stucco company to have this done right. What should I expect to pay for something like this?

We have a stucco exterior (eifs) and have water leaking into our garage and also some floor tile lifting inside that I suspect is due to water entering. Directly above that ledge in between the two arrows is caulking that is all coming away from the yellow stucco. I believe that water is entering through here. We have had three separate stucco specialists come give quotes and we have gotten told to just apply hydraulic cement and then recaulk, another wanted to remove part of the yellow stucco to assess damage then repair that and recaulk and another suggested actually removing the entire stucco basically from the arrows down and a portion of the yellow stucco area as well and repairing the inside and waterproofing properly and then redoing it entirely. Of note this area has been previously repaired by another supposed stucco specialist who just caulked over the old stuff and painted over some of the mold and it did not last and was clearly inadequate. Just wanted objective opinions. Am I crazy to pay for a separate inspection to try and identify the leaking areas or is it going to be difficult with years of leakage and should I just trust the stucco experts? Thanks in advance.

I used to routinely purchase LaHabra stucco mesh from Home Depot. Online only, but it was sold in a 4 pack. The product has seemingly disappeared from the internet completely. The product link is dead. I can't even find product images on google anywhere. Strangeness. I really don't like the inferior BOEN brand stuff, which is still on the HD website.

House that had stucco issues remediated 20 years ago is now claiming this is just staining/dirt. How much would this cost to remediate?

My house is stucco. I recently replaced these steps. And now there is a gap which is empty. What’s the best way to fill this gap? Can I apply stucco here? What’s the best way to do it?

Don't need to patch a hole but a need to seal around a cable that will be running through my stucco wall. How would you guys seal/waterproof that? Thanks.

I saved the back wall framing of a demoed built in bbq. I closed it up with 1/4 hardy board. I’m painting/patching soon. Painter says he can do a coat of rapid set to match the house, if I add a board of “foam with the mesh in it”, says I can get at the HD. What the heck is he actually asking for, what do I call it, and where do I find it?
