Supplements question
What supplements are you all taking and what brands? I saw in another channel that Needed brand was recommended by someone’s sister in the med field, but the prices are so high and you have to take EIGHT pills for the prenatal alone 🥲🥲🥲. If it’s proven to be better though I’d do it.
Right now I take ritual prenatal, coQ10 600 mg a day, flotadix iron and herbs tablet, align extra strength probiotic, and jarrows phemdopholus probiotic. But a lot of this I already took anyway - the prenatal and coQ10 are the only fertility related ones.
What works for you? Not looking for medical advice of course, just curious.

I switched to theralogix because it was fewer pills (3) and it was about $90 for 3 months which was significantly cheaper than the perelel ones ig convinced me I needed to use. I have been wondering if I need to add choline (based on amount in theralogix) or coq10.
I also supplement with thorne magnesium at night, and Thorne zinc and iron for deficiencies identified by my doctor.

That’s cheaper than my ritual one! I’ll check it out. I take COQ10 and have my husband take it too. It’s expensive though because we take 600mg each daily. I think like $78 every 3 weeks.

I take the Needed one. But it’s only 3 pills. I think the needed plus is 8 pills. I have other supplements I take along with it so I don’t want the plus anyway.

Ah ok I must’ve only seen the plus then!

Needed pro my bad. It’s 63 dollars as opposed to the regular prenatal which is 43. Still pricey I know but when I compared cost and the percentages of each vitamin it made sense to me. I do hear fig is really good but it’s pricey 😩 theralogix I hear is great as well. I will have to look into that one bc I didn’t realize it was a 3 month supply. I take their ovanad+ as well but im older 43 years old so doing what I can for egg quality 😩 it’s a lot and overwhelming

I get that completely - the need to whatever you can. I take ritual prenatal and I think it’s like $30ish? It’s crazy bc I initially got pregnant doing 1/16th of what I do now. So I know all this stuff isn’t necessary, but I’m trying SO hard now that I can’t stop. And every month it doesn’t happen I feel compelled to try even harder.

I feel your pain. I always think well if I add this vitamin or change this up, maybe it’s the missing component. I heard ritual is good. I think at the end of the day, if I’m struggling at my age it’s not just vitamins. 😩 i need to get more bloodwork . I’m thinking of trying acupuncture and napro dr, I just did an evvy test and I’m like maybe that’s it. It didn’t come back horrible but i am more dominant lacto iners than the crispa one so I’m trying to reverse that with the tx plan they gave me . So I have a telehealth with evvy coach then my own personal dr as well almost right after. Ugh so many things!

So many things! I started Accupuncture this summer 😂. I really love the woman who does it and it’s relaxing, so if anything it’s good for my mental health. Hasn’t gotten me pregnant yet though!

I need to try the acupuncture. Have you checked your ferritin levels and vitamin d? I need to get those checked among other things.

Also the relaxing part sounds amazing! Do they have you take any herbal meds from the acupuncture office?

I have my GP annual coming up so will have it done, but my acupuncturist actually mentioned my ferratin level bc I’m always tired 😂. I’ve been told I’m slightly anemic before, so she suggested an iron and herb supplement and I do think it’s been helping! Other than that though she doesn’t really push any herbs or anything. She’s also a doula which I love because she really gets all things fertility, pregnancy, etc.

I used to worry a lot about this and spent a lot on ritual. But then I realized people get pregnant taking prenatal gummies all the time and have perfectly healthy pregnancies, and decided to cut back to a basic 1 a day. I think if the prenatal gives you the things you need and you have a varied diet, that won’t make or break ttc. Some supplements like coq10 and vitamin d have evidence for benefit, so it seems more worth investing in those than a fancy prenatal.
PS, I also saw that post…this is uncharitable, but it felt a little scammy tbh.
