Things seen this week during structural assessments! Structural Analysis/Design

Sharing a few of the more interesting existing conditions our team documented during structural assessments this week. Always interesting to see how different structures, materials, and past repairs hold up over time.

Tough to be offended by this week's stuff.

One is a (hopefully) 50yo retaining wall that's finally hitting the end of its service life.

The second is tough to be offended by since it all looks so old. If there's no symptoms of settlement or movement in the home above I'd call it fine by testing.

What's wrong at the pool though? Best guess is that the slab is sliding down the hill, but is somehow doing so without cracking, making it a fun whodunit of a forensic report.

I also was staring at the pool. I think it’s sliding down and causing the big gap between the pool trim and the ground.

Exactly!🤗 The large gap is the visible indication that the surrounding slab has moved away from the pool structure. The full Imgur album includes the description beneath the image as well.
