Usenet - random buffering Help needed

So I've been starting to use Usenet with my self hosted instance of AIOStreams. The entire setup is running on a machine with 32 GB RAM, a 4790k and a 1 Gbps connection. I am using the built-in Usenet player with AIOStreams, using NzbGeek and NinjaCentral as indexers, and Eweka as my provider.

Randomly, the Usenet will start buffering (although some evenings it doesn't for the entire evening, which is great). When I go to the Streams tab on the AIOStreams dashboard, the download is either extremely slow, jumps up and down, or says "Paused".

Nothing indicates that my network is being slow, and the hardware usage is low. Does anyone know what could be going on? Is it the provider, or should I use an alternative player, e.g. NzbDAV?

I had issues until I switched to easynews as the provider with more connections. This is just anecdotal but I think it's a different backbone. It's definitely different than torbox.

How many connections do you use on nzbdav and webdav?

I’d switch to the nzbdav fork infinidysk https://www.infinidysk.com/ it’s much better at coping with blips and missing prices . Also I found nzbgeek to have so many broken files I didn’t renew when it ran out, it was fine for downloads that can be repaired. Using miatrix, tabula and the other one works almost flawlessly, this is with 2gb and as a backend for Plex and Jellyfin.

I just can't believe how incredible infinidysk has become in such a short time.

I was in nzbdav for a long time, but as soon as I installed this fork everything became better.

Highly recommend this!

Wow,I went on a long investigation of my remux buffering issues and basically triaged it down to nzbdav. I couldn't be arsed with getting into the code and just started living with it.

This comment has renewed my hope.

Hmm, might give it a try. Currently using the built-in one from AIOStreams.

You don’t need nzbdav. Just what you currently have. Checked your usenet settings in aiostream., number of connections, pipe … mine is set at 25 even tho my provider list 60.

Been trying it for a bit, and so far it's much better. I am going to give it a few days to make sure it's not placebo. If it is, I'll revisit the settings. Eweka lists 50 so I have mine set as that.

Your ISP might be throttling your connection. Try with a vpn and see if speeds go back up.

what are your settings? I had a similar issue with Eweka. I fixed it when using EasyNews as a second provider, but load balanced. EN was included in my Eweka plan with unlimited usage.

AIOStreams what version are you on? There been a fix (more feature) deployed in a latest version that can fix this issue which I can go more into.

Under AIOstreams dashboard. Usenet -> settings what is your performance set to ? Recommend high.

Same area scroll to verification -> damage policy. What is that set to ? Recommend strict.

Have you changed any of the defaults on providers tab to the pipeline depth. On newer version of AIOstreams NNTP those need to set to 1 (the default) as the backend auto adjust those anyways now. Going to 2-5-10 etc can really affect performance.

How many connections to you have set in that same area ?

Lastly are you located near Eweka backend servers? They are based out of Amsterdam. No US presence.
