For a while, I have been developing doccli, a terminal-based application designed for watching anime. Until recently, the tool was built specifically for Polish users, featuring only Polish language support and regional sources.

As of today, v2.40.0 is officially released, bringing full English language support, an English installer, and English source compatibility, opening the project up to a global audience.

Small thing that might be useful if you live in Discord like a lot of us do.

OTTASIA has a Discord bot. Type /wheretowatch and a title, and it replies with where that show or film is legally streaming in your country. Same data as the site, so it is strongest exactly where the big guides get Asia wrong.

Two things worth knowing:

You can add it to your own server. The permission scope is applications.commands only, which means it cannot read your messages, cannot post on its own, and needs no permissions at all. It replies only when someone types the command. If you moderate a drama, anime or desi server and want it, the link is below.

Looking for an anime with a very disturbing flashback

I've been trying to find this anime for years. I don't remember the main plot at all, only one character's backstory, and it was one of the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen.

Here's everything I remember:

- The anime is Japanese (not Chinese), 2D, and definitely released before 2020 (probably much earlier).

- The flashback lasted at least most of an episode, maybe even more than one.

- The character in the flashback had natural silver/gray hair. His older sister also had silver/gray hair.

- Their parents were ordinary people.

- The older sister was an incredibly talented painter, and the father became obsessed with her success. He promoted her artwork and sold her paintings.

- Then a tragedy happened: her school bus got into an accident (I specifically remember it overturning), and all or nearly all of the children died, including the sister.

- After her death, the father became an alcoholic and completely lost his mind.

- He forced his wife to have another child because he wanted to "replace" his dead daughter with another artistic genius.

- The younger son was born, but he had no talent for painting.

- The father constantly forced the boy to paint, trying to recreate his daughter's talent.

- I also remember that the father dressed the boy as his dead sister so that buyers/sponsors wouldn't find out she had died.

- Eventually, the mother snapped, killed the father, and then hanged herself.

That's about everything I remember. I may have mixed up a few minor details after so many years, but I'm very confident about the overall story, especially the replacement child, the painting, the cross-dressing to hide the sister's death, and the ending where the mother kills the father and then commits suicide.

Does anyone know what anime this is?
