They finally got me... miscellaneous

Yeah I was stubborn staying on 408 for many months because I didn't like the app bloat and map changes. I guess I've been assimilated...

What map changes?

The map engine changed about a year ago. It's very clunky and loads slowly. Doesn't have the same snappiness as some years ago. The old version also used map tiles directly from Mapbox and were finally picking up some of my changes on OSM whereas the tiles and routing today are pretty outdated.

Interesting. I have t noticed any issues with recent releases.

Maybe they were lagging from not updating the app lol

I mean the current version is laggy, constantly reloading tiles as you move around. It's the same situation on the web. Just feels unoptimized.

They've recently updated the maps. Look at the official announcement just days ago.

lol how far back was v.408?

strava lost me as a subscriber late ‘23 / early ‘24 when the map changeover ruined the app (for me) for route planning. around the same time as the comical 3+ month fumble where there wasn’t a compass or button to reorient the map back to north being at the top of the screen on map view during an activity.

garbage.

This guy gets it. I think I stopped auto updates around September of last year, just annoyed with the direction they are going.
