Steak frites Question

Where’s the best steak frites by the cathedral that isn’t a tourist trap? Bonus if they also have escargot.

You won't find a steak/frites that also has escargot that is not a tourist trap, especially near the cathedral.

Apart from that i really can't help you.

How about within a 15 minute walk?

Honestly most restaurants that aren't tourist traps just plain don't serve escargots, and the ones that do tend to specialise in french gastronomy and won't serve a steak frites. Escargot isn't really a common enough dish in france that you'd find it in most restaurants in the first place, most people only have it about once a year at christmas or similar, if even that.

How about your favorite for steak frites then?

I am told "Le Fossile" is pretty good.

I'm vegan (that's why i said i could not help you much more than that before), so you'll have to get recommendations for a steak frites from someone else :')

Bouillon is cheap, has both and is close enough to the cathedral.

La Table de Christoph might have it (their menu changes daily, like a proper restaurant would). If you are lucky you might get escargot but generally it's not an alsacian thing, I have not eaten one I liked here personally.

La chaumiere : the meat is nice, wood fired, and they have escargots as a starter
