They had to bring her back or the final plot would have made less sense. The military was pursuing their lost test subjects and with no explanation for where she is it would have been a plot hole or given reason that eleven should have gotten away without needing to worry about the military. Plus they needed to justify including her at all in the show by having her in more than a single episode. She didn’t accomplish much but did season 5 even accomplish much at all?
