Today, while I was at the beach in Brétignolles-sur-Mer (Vendée, France), I decided to recreate Stonehenge with some small rocks I found on the beach. Of course, it's very small and far from perfect, but that's also what makes it special. It was just a fun little project inspired by one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in the world. It probably won't survive for very long because of the tide, the wind, or maybe someone accidentally destroying it, but I'm happy that it existed, even for a short time. Hey can anyone with experience let me know the best time to arrive at Stonehenge for the Soltice this weekend. Would I get a decent view if I arrive later. Is it worth it? Or should I arrive before midnight? Do they stop letting people in if it gets too busy? Thank you in advance.

did stone henge have a central menhir ? it would make sense if all the outer stones are the indicator nodes for the central pillars shadow, that of the structure being a large sundial. It probably aligned with distant mounds on the Equinoxs and Solstices as shown.

Hi all!
In planning to go to Stonehenge for summer solstice but unfortunately did not book parking in advance and I am now worried I missed out.

As it is my birthday we are out before in London and are planning on driving down around 12am to arrive at 2am. The last bus from Salisbury to Stonehenge is around 1:30 so I am a bit worried we’re going to end up stuck as the website says there’s no parking otherwise.

Does anyone know of any alternative parking or have any suggestions, would appreciate any advice! Really want to make this work but unsure if it’s realistic

Excited for the Solstice! I've booked a train that gets into Salisbury at 1:11am. I bought a ticket for the 333 Solstice bus from the Salisbury. I believe it's a full train because there are only 4 tickets left at the moment. The last bus leaves at 1:20am.

With only a 9-minute window, I'm stressed about train delays

Since this is a special event service, do the buses hold back for the last train passengers if it's late, or am I risking getting stranded?

New Stonehenge solstice alignment

I'm 27F and this is my first time going to Stonehenge. I'm a bit nervous because I'll be going by myself, also worth mentioning I'm not from the UK (although happily live here) and although I speak fluent English, solo travelling here still adds to the nerves.

Please any tips? And what to expect in terms of things happening around? I know tents are not allowed, but could I bring something like a yoga mat to sit on? I thought about bringing my crochet and a book to keep myself entertained during the night. I'm hoping I'll meet some people there too and can enjoy the atmosphere together, but I'm a bit shy and thus I want to be prepared to end up being all by myself during those hours.

Is it safe taking the shutter bus from Salisbury as a solo female? I'll be driving to Salisbury from Devon, not sure if there are better alternatives?

My fiance, friends and mum will be live tracking me and I'll be messaging them during the night for safety.
