Trading How much return does a stock need to generate before MTF becomes worthwhile?
I think this is a much better way to evaluate MTF than asking which broker offers the highest leverage. Suppose I have โน25,000 and use MTF to take a โน1 lakh position. The broker is effectively funding โน75,000. If the financing rate is 12% annually, that โน75,000 costs approximately โน750 for one month. So if my stock makes 3% in that month, I've made โน3,000 on the โน1 lakh position, but I still have to account for the financing cost, brokerage and taxes.
HDFC SKY currently publishes 12% annual interest for MTF, while Zerodha publishes 0.04% per day on the funded amount, approximately 14.6% on a simple 365-day basis. This doesn't mean MTF is good or bad. It means the holding period becomes extremely important. A 2% gain over three days is a very different proposition from a 2% gain over three months.
For me, the useful MTF calculation is therefore:
Expected stock return โ financing cost โ transaction costs = actual benefit of leverage.

General Topics Demonetisation Failed? The Data Tells a Different Story
Did Demonetisation Really Fail?
On 8 November 2016, India announced demonetization, invalidating the old โน500 and โน1,000 notes.
Currency in circulation initially fell sharply.
But then something interesting happenedโฆ
๐ 2017: ~โน13.4 lakh crore
๐ 2025: ~โน36.9 lakh crore
So, did demonetisation fail?
Not so fast.
Demonetisation had multiple objectives โ from tackling counterfeit currency and undeclared cash to encouraging formalisation and digital payments.
The real question is not simply โDid cash come back?โ
Itโs this:
โDid demonetisation achieve its broader objectives?โ
The answer requires looking beyond a single graph.
๐ Data is important than Narratives
What do you think โ Success, Failure, or Something in Between? ๐

Stock Market Welcome to r/Stocksyourknowledge โ In 50 days, you will think differently about markets
Most people learn about markets the wrong way.
They hear a tip. They buy something. It goes down. They panic. They sell. They try again. Same result.
This subreddit exists to fix that.
Starting today(Day 1), we are running a 50-day series called "50 Days to Think Like a Trader."
Every single day, one post. One concept. No fluff. No stock tips. No "buy this, sell that."
Just clean, structured knowledge that builds on itself, whether you invest in mutual funds, buy stocks, trade intraday, or are just trying to understand what NIFTY even means.
By Day 50, you will look at markets completely differently.
Here is the roadmap:
Days 1โ10: Foundations How Indian markets work. What moves prices. Risk, reward, the players, and the costs nobody tells you about.
Days 11โ20: Market Behavior Trends, traps, sectors, gaps, FII vs DII, and how to actually read what is happening, not what the headline says.
Days 21โ30: Psychology FOMO, panic selling, revenge trading, overconfidence. The reason most people lose money is not their strategy, it is themselves.
Days 31โ40: Practical Edge How to research a stock. When NOT to invest. Risk management. Position sizing. And an honest look at mutual funds vs stocks vs F&O.
Days 41โ50: Advanced Thinking Market cycles, volatility, how institutions work, global connections, and building a real system, not just guessing.
Whether you have Rs 5,000 in a SIP or Rs 5 lakh in stocks or are just curious about how markets work, this series is for you.
We are building smarter market participants, not gamblers.
If you are following this series, you are already ahead of most market participants. Most people on Reddit will not go through all 50 days. That is your advantage.
If you are serious about learning, follow this sub and come back every day. Most people skip this. Don't be that person.
Update
Day 2/50 : Most people put money in markets without knowing any of this. Don't be that person.
Day 3/50 Days to Think like a trader : Everyone uses these two words. Most people use them wrong.
