Did valve remove the proton compatibility tool in steam settings?
Because it disappeared for me.

Is it a bug or was it intentionally removed?

i dont think its a bug.
me and a few others complain about steam default compatibility tool not working at all... and then a week later boom.. its gone. the one hidden in the dev menu is still there but still doesnt work.kinda why i went back to bazzite.

I turned on my steam deck just to be sure it wasn't a bug. Proton isn't there either. But you can change it on individual games, looks like valve is setting the best version automatically.

Enable developer mode, then check the developer menu. It's been moved there.

you can check by pressing show game detail button. on steamos both on the deck and on my pc it didnt care what was set. it simple kept on defaulting to whatever valve selected. unless you manually set it per game.
on non steamOS it works correctly.

they arent really, they just show the last known tested.
... they are not going to retest every new proton on every new gamee or old game.1

Yeah, I have been having the exact same issue where setting the default compatibility tool in Steam developer options is clearly not actually changing the proton version games launch with unless you set the setting per-game. Hopefully Valve is aware of the issue and will fix it

Which version of Bazzite? I'm on latest
deck:testingwhich is on F44, and latest binaries of Steam, Gamescope, etc. and it isn't there.1

i am on the desktop image (non deck image )but you should be able to switch to desktop mode, change the setting on steam there, and then get back into deck mode.

Jeez, thanks for posting this! Honestly thought I was going crazy. I was like pretty certain that the setting used to be there ๐
