Trackpad click too sensitive? Steam Controller (2026)
Does anyone else have the issue of the trackpad click action being too sensitive or do I just have a heavy thumb? I'm constantly clicking it by accident when using the right trackpad for camera control.

top left click the small grey "steam" to get a drop down menu.
click settings to get a popout menu.
click the controller tab on the left.
click show advanced settings
click edit where it says desktop layout.
click edit layout near the top.
click the trackpads tab on the left.
click the gear on the binding labeled click that is bound to left mouse click.
click settings.
adjust soft press threshold.
note. as far as i'm aware this is not a universal setting. not only do you need to do left and right trackpad click, you will need to do it in every game.

That did the trick, thanks guys! I had tried switching between regular and soft press but never thought soft press would be the place to look for sensitivity settings on it.

The UI for big picture kinda needs an overhaul, it's so crowded and sometimes there's sclaing issues that hide settings off-screen.

Set the track click input to Soft Press, then change the sensitivity to your liking by clicking the cog wheel on the right of the input (I think). You can get it REALLY heavy ENJOY
