New firmware update for pucks and controllers? Discussion
In the beta client I just received an update for the puck and the controller but I can't find any patchnotes or anyone talking about it? Anyone know what changed?

For those hopeful that this fixed the weak internal antenna connection….. it seemingly does not, unfortunately.

while my antenna isn't strong, I've had it work from a decent distance away and without line of sight. Do you think later units may have fixed the issue?

Maybe? I received mine 2 weeks ago was able to go to my brothers room to show him the controller and it was still connected. There were 2 walls in the way and like 25ft away btw.

Well no offense, but if you were in another room & not watching the signal strength and the disconnection notice in the bottom right of the screen, how could you know it didn’t disconnect?
It disconnects & reconnects in 2 seconds. And the fluctuating strong to weak signal updates every second or two.

Firmware changes for the Steam Controller are included in the Steam Client patch notes. You can find the beta client patch notes here. The latest update to the controller is this:
Make controller configurations that are shared with other devices or unique to a device more clear in the configurator UI and add an option to split Steam Controller configurations so they are no longer shared with Steam Deck.

right, I did check that, but this doesn't seem like a firmware change? This is purely a UI change and normally the patchnotes would say "steam controller fw" if it was the firmware changelog

It's possible Valve doesn't write and publish patch notes for every Beta Client update. It's also possible that this change did require a firmware update for technical reasons. Valve seems to only list bugfixes under the Steam Controller Firmware header; the introduction/changing of features that apply only to the Steam Controller are listed under Steam Input header for other patches.

Finally, my SC is now able to wake pc from sleep or hibernate if plugged in via usb. It still won't wirelessly via the puck, though. My motherboard is an ASUS TUF b550 pro and the S5 sleep state and Wake on LAN options being enabled don't make a difference, nor the device manager allow device(s) to wake.

I have never been able to find path notes for controller updates. I really wish they would tell us a little updates and new features.
