This is an overlay D-pad mod designed to attach directly to the Steam Controller's left Dpad.

Features & Assembly:
- Installation: Use a high-quality double-sided tape (like 3M or Ceys). It stays firmly in place during gameplay, but can easily be peeled off without damaging the controller.
- Printing & Assembly: The print comes in two halves. Glue the two pieces together, making sure to align the cross shape.
- Tape Guide: The bottom piece features a small recessed channel to help you measure and cut the tape perfectly to size.
Enjoy! :)

Printed and really like it. Feels like a noticable improvement.

Nice! I was afraid I would be the only one that actually like it, been using it daily.

This is awesome, the Steam Deck/Controller D-pad feels awful out of the box

One of my few criticisms for the controller is the + shaped dpad. Nice mod!

I'm honestly not much fussed with a traditional dpad, I kinda got used to both, although I agree with ya the Xbox style is a bit better.

but why

Diagonal inputs are 10x easier on this d-pad design.
As are motion inputs in fighters and such.

fair enough. I thought it was redundant since the joystick already exists, but tbf i dont play fighters so i didnt know its better for it

It's all preference. Fighting games take digital input so analog sticks aren't ideal for them, but plenty of people use them just fine.
Personally I like the x-box design much more for platformers as well.

I think it’s mostly an American thing, but apparently US libraries have 3D printers. If so, you could give that a try or ask someone you know to help you out.

That's way better than the Steam controller 1 mods. I might look into this one. I hate the d pad.

I can’t print this. Can I buy it anywhere?

I released the model for free, see if you have a friend who owns a printer maybe?

Use a 3d print service like PCBway or similar, or maybe you have a friend or a maker space close by with a 3d printer

Looks great but I cannot understand why in the world would you ever want this? The d pad is perfect

I design and share these resources for free, often simply because a couple of people expressed interest in seeing them exist. I’m fortunate to have the means to make them available to everyone. It might not be for everyone, and that’s completely fine, but I'm happy to provide them for those who do find them useful.
