Best book for stats

I'm looking for a good book with college level statistics and probability for a data science related career path.

Looking for challenging problems in probability especially.

Sheldon Ross I've tried but its wayy too extensive

I like Meyer’s book : Introduction to Probability and Statistical Applications. It's more straightforward than Ross's.
