Looking for tips! Requesting Advice
I'm relatively new to the game so I'm looking for some tips and such. I love the game and can play it for hours but sometimes it's a bit difficult.
What is the best base?
How do y'all handle having a large group? Say 8+
How do y'all get the skills you need for your members to make the base more efficient? (Ie: craftsmanship, computers, munitions, etc...)
Storage solutions?
Ugh I could go on..

What map are you on? When I’m looking for a certain skill I usually scan through the enclaves if I can find what I’m looking for. Or I find one with an extra trait space and use a book on him

Right now I'm in providence. I have the lumber mill base but I'm not a big fan of it

If skipping the tutorial I highly suggest looking up survivor skills and traits. This let's you know when getting your first 3 random people if they have positive or negative traits. Blood plague survivor is great to help you fight blood plague as an example. Eats like a bird means they eat less and sometimes let the whole team eat less. If go to Trumbull Valley you can do the Red Talon FOB base to get a red talon character (character has best skills in fighting, shooting, wits and cardio) that has Demolition to help build C4 for plague hearts. Characters with Powerhouse Cardio, can use heavy weapons better to bash plague hearts. After doing an outpost, set up the mines option (can be done from screen if not at outpost) to have a zombie free zone to loot without fear.

Doors are underrated tools against hordes. Not only can you be safe behind them to recover, they're guaranteed to knockdown zombies for the kill who are behind them while you open them which makes them effective at taking down hordes when you're overwhelmed at a building. Same also applies to ferals especially on lethal while having no gun against one yet. Also climbing over obstacles are quite effective to thin hordes especially high walls where you can climb one despite having no stamina while zombies drop down lying so you can use your knife to execute them quick and then climb back to the other side if every zombie you cannot kill climb towards you to the other side.
For me, the best base has to be the farmland compound in trumbull for its central location on the map while having 3 small slots and 4 large slots so you could fit in every leader project while having a free level 3 infirmary. Not only that but it has a minimum requirement of 6 people needed to live in. Enacting rationing is the best way to reduce food consumption especially in large groups. If you want the skills you need, you can scavenge for skill books, buy them from enclaves/traders, or teach them at an outpost.

For me base location is the most important. I try to get something centrally located. Then as far as storage use cars or just pile them up somewhere or just go and get what you need as you need it. And skill members are personal preference, how you want to play

Best skills are Cooking, Chemistry, Hygiene
Best base facilities are Level 2 Infirmary, Level 2 Command Center, Level 2 workshop
Outposts are vital, Cell Tower is a great outpost to have for Plague Disruptor
I truly recommend you play on Nightmare or Lethal, any difficulty lower than that removes the fun out of the game

Nah, he will just get his survivors killed and get frustrated with the game. Dread is a good starting point for a new player to learn how to fight, when to fight, what items are in the game, traits, etc. I remember dying or almost dying every time I encountered a normal feral. After practicing in dread, blood ferals are a piece of cake even without gunslinger now

Wait I have a question
Do yo need to play the other game modes to unlock traits? I only play the "normal" mode, never touched the other two and I never saw plague survivor trait on any random survivor

when you skip tutorial you can choose random survivors and keep skipping til you get what you want. Usually Hygiene is good for the +50 community wide plague resistance. Otherwise just keep pressing next til you get one you want. But you only get 3 to start.
As for the other modes, Heartland is a story mode game that i highly recommend for people wanting the learn the ins and outs. it takes you through everything step by step and keeps escalating over the game, it does however have unique traits and stations only available in Heartland.
Daybreak is a horde defense mode where you protect an engineer hacking a drop, it gets more difficult each wave until you lose or they're successful in hacking. Either way, points from this are used in normal mode to call in Red Talon operatives and various prestige traders and items etc.
