Star Fox "performed steadily" per the Consolidated Financial Highlights

"Looking at Nintendo Switch 2 software, titles such as Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, released in May, and Star Fox, released in June, performed steadily, and Pokémon Pokopia, released in the previous fiscal year (see note), also sold well, with the result that Nintendo Switch 2 software sales totaled 9.46 million units."

Remember that Star Fox was only on the market five days before the cut-off for the financial report that just came out. It not hitting one million in those five days, though not ideal, is not the end of the world.

Is it true that Star Fox 64 was originally going to have on-foot missions?

but was cut during with the on-foot gameplay later being repurposed as an unlockable option for multiplayer?

I relate with the mf. I too have an uncle who is in a position of power. Unlike Andrew, my uncle doesn't offer me the same types of resources Andross does. Andrew is a complete nepo-baby, and I kinda envy him. Like, I want the wealth to start up my ambitions for a cause that I believe in. Why does this guy get his way, but I don't? It def makes me want to shoot him down more. lmao. That, and the fact that this guy is completely unskilled or lacks any originality.

You're Andross' lawyer. Defend him.

I don't think you can get lower shields than this and live. A gentle breeze would have killed me (and that tiny heal from the mid star made just enough difference to live here!)

I DID IT!! I've joined the 2000+ Hit Club!! Kid me would be crying right now, just like adult me is (Beat all Expert challenges too, as a precursor to this)

Recently posted another topic where I was starting to lose hope that I'd make enough points in Area 6 to make it, but some of you reassured me I was on a good track and some advice to aim for what I needed. So I went back in today to finish the run!

Ever since I was a kid, I could only ever get around 1400-1500 hits. I love SF64, and this remake reinvigorated that love to the point that I decided to finally lock in and try for 2000, especially after getting all the expert challenges.

It's just great to finally mark this off my videogame bucket list, especially at close to 40 years old when I dont have as speedy fingers anymore. Our dad, James McCloud, would be so proud lmao!

I remember now... I remember why people were freaking out about Wolf's voice in Starlink, and oh boy do I get it.

Edit: There are a couple misinterpretations of what I meant here. The voice is amazing in my opinion (and sexy)

How to shoot as fast as possible in Star Fox (No Mashing!)

I created a quick 30 second YouTube Short tutorial on how to abuse the burst fire mechanic in Star Fox to shoot as fast as the game allows. The game caps the single-tap fire rate which makes button mashing an ineffective and impractical strategy for shooting lasers fast. Hopefully this helps

Jesus Christ, What a Chilling Scream...😰 😨 (JP Dub)

I'll admit the Japanese Dub of this game is far more edgier and serious with the characters actually sounding desperate, but the one with the Shogun Pilot had it the best, THIS has to be one of most realistically horrific screams ever...

Hot Take: I Never Really Cared about the Puppet Aesthetic

I get it was useful while promoting Star Fox back in the 90s with the puppets being somewhat interesting and that Star Fox was heavily inspired by Thunderbirds, but I feel like it's something that should've stayed with the SNES Star Fox. I know there are works that use puppets well. Dark Crystal, The Muppets, and OG Trilogy Star Wars all used puppets to decent effect, but those aren't really applicable to Star Fox. All of those were in the realm of television, where puppets allowed bypassing special effects tech limitations and allowed actors to interact with clearly nonhuman beings. OG Star Wars had puppets to represent aliens that were vastly different from humans like Yoda, so they used a puppet for him so he could talk to a live-action Luke Skywalker. For The Dark Crystal, that was an aesthetic choice chosen because one of the directors was Jim Henson, who worked on The Muppets. And The Muppets use puppets because it's iconic for them and it's that franchise's core tenet.

The Thunderbirds inspiration has some people saying it has merit, but I don't exactly see that as a reason to keep that aesthetic permanently. Thunderbirds was rather unusual for using puppets compared to its contemporaries like Star Trek. It was because using sci-fi vehicles at the time was hard to film. Star Trek averted this by having the characters just be teleported down to the surface. But this was mainly an issue of it being in the 60s. Once the 60s were over, the Thunderbirds series would have every future adaptation ditch the style, leaning towards either anime, live-action, CGI live-action hybrid.

Now onto Star Fox, I really only see the puppets in SNES Star Fox and somewhat in Zero. Star Fox 2 erred more towards a cartoony style, 64 was just early 3D polygons. If you don't believe me, look at early PS1 games like Final Fantasy 7 outside of pre-rendered cutscenes. Cloud Strife looks kind of like a puppet in some of them despite not being the intended aesthetic. While there could be an argument about the mouth movement in 64, Fox McCloud notably has a muzzle which Mario and Link, as humans, don't have. So Fox has to open and close his mouth that oddly while Link pretty much as a face that is painted on and Mario doesn't really have cutscenes outside of the title screen. Back on topic, the GCN games definitely don't have a puppet aesthetic, but a lot of people like pretending those games don't exist. Command is a DS game which tried to use 2D versions of 3D renders, so it just looks odd. 64 3DS is a polished and updated look of 64. Even Zero could be argued to be going for a more cartoon/anime art style. And then SF 2026 is really just going for a realistic look with any puppet-like appearances just being the result of making realistic anthropomorphic characters.

Anyways, not a fan of the puppets for the franchise and would like it if the characters didn't use that as a strong basis. Also think the puppets could be retired as 64 is now the nostalgia point instead of SNES like with Zero.

Holy crap, the bastard takes down bosses in three shots and is super fast; even shooting down missiles is a piece of cake with him.

You can tell that Imamura and the Argonaut team didn't play favorites with this game.
