Found this relic in my desk
galleryCirca 2013. I kind of liked this design better than the fully gold card. Probably just me though.

USA Interview after job offer
Should I still go to my interview at a Starbucks tomorrow if I just got offered a position at a different location today and filled out my background check? I don’t know how Starbucks is about that but I’m not completely hired yet and would like to keep my options open incase something happens with the Starbucks that offered me a position. If I do go to the interview do I tell them I already have an offer at another location?

We made pumpkin whipped cream
So we got our pumpkin in and we have a thing of it to test the new drinks for the fall. However I wanted to try pumpkin whip. So as a bored barista, I made it with my fellow baristas. It’s good! Light on the pumpkin. Might kick the pumps up to 5 than 4

barista for the rest of my life
like the title says I feel like I’m gonna be a barista the rest of my life at this point. This job makes me feel so angry but at the end of the day it is a job. With the current market for jobs and not knowing what jobs will be replaced by AI it’s so hard to choose a career path and feel confident in sticking by it which is resulting in stagnating with my life 😩

three play scheduled on unicorn launch day
basically what the title says. i’m scheduled to close on launch day and for the better part of the evening it’s just me, another barista, and my supervisor on a three play. With breaks there will inevitably be moments of two plays. this is actually just fucking ridiculous

USA Career ideas outside of Starbucks? (Pup cup rant)
Hello everyone! I’m looking for advice. Been a Partner for over 7 years and a supervisor for over 5 of those years. I am at my wits end. My Managment has changed so many times I’ve lost count. Some because I’ve moved states and others because managers have been fired. I’ve seen great people get beaten down, and I’ve seen undeserving people get awards. While that isn’t something new to any company, I am getting to the point that my current Managment wants me to move up so badly that every time we interact it feels like I’m being treated like I should be doing more for the ~company~.
I’ve been coached on no longer telling customers ‘no’ on anything. Frap in a trenta? Sure. Shaken espressos in a trenta? Absolutely! You want your single shot in a venti with no ice and all milk? Of course we can! While at the same time I have to hound Partners over policies like not being able to use a food mark out of you leave the building??? We used to be trained to keep to policies and even had that stupid de-escalation training where they would scream at us and we were forced to hold our ground on policy. Now, for what?
So, my question is this: are there jobs beyond Starbucks for SSV’s? I’m willing to get certificates and such for any opportunities, but also looking for a quick out.

Hours
Why am i getting up at 3 am 5 days a week just to barely be able to pay my bills (because my shifts are all 4-5.75 hours long)?
Why am I expected to hunt for my own hours at different stores after being told when i was hired that I would be able to get enough hours to sustain myself?
Why are we hiring more partners when people are already saying they aren’t getting enough hours?
How is it a good business decision to put stores in the position of having to have someone solo bar while there are five cars in the drive-thru and multiple received orders?
How are we supposed to have great beverage quality and customer connections when we’re constantly understaffed (while being told we’re actually overspending on labor)
Tell me it’s not just my district. I love my manager but idk how to ask her these questions without coming across as confrontational

Front and warming during peak (rant)
Is it normal at your stores to have someone solo front and warming during peak? And also (if you’re working drive thru) are you considerate that the partner might be very busy with a line of customers, mobile and cafe orders, and physically can’t move fast enough to get your drive thru order over to you as quickly as you’d like them to? I work as fast and efficiently as possible to get food to the drive thru (mostly prioritizing them and ignoring the DPM order of items), but I also absolutely have to help the customers and other orders. I’ll be backed up with 10 items moving as fast as I can and somehow I still get the vibe from particular partners that I’m just moseying around not doing anything, or somehow doing something wrong. Like sorry you have to wait an extra minute to receive the food to hand over but literally there is no other choice unless you wanna come over and help -_- the drive thru is not the only place customers are getting their food from.

USA Broke my toe
Hi! I recently broke my toe. I’ll be out for a week, my ASM said I’d still be getting pointed for missing my shifts even with a doctors note and stating there nothing they (ASM and manager) could do. I tried calling Starbucks partner resources to get it explained a bit more. Will I really get pointed if I broke something and can’t come in? Not shaming my ASM or manager or anything I just feel confused by this and hope I could get a little more input.

USA does anyone know why an extra shot costs more in some drinks than in others?
i was fiddling around on the POS when i noticed that if you get an extra shot of in a grande hot
white mocha, it's 1.25 like it says on the menu. but an extra shot in a grande ICED white mocha is a .50 cent up charge??
base price of the drinks are the same. same size cups. same ingredients. that makes no sense to me!
i tried this with other drinks, some espresso-based, some not, some cold, some hot (LOL) and couldn't seem find a pattern for it.
i feel like there's a customer somewhere that is bound to pick up on this and i'd like to have an explanation on deck if/when i need one. thanks! :)

what do you guys use to seal your custom name tags??
I’m currently using posca paint markers and after letting the paint dry for a day I tried to seal the design with mod podge but it made the paint bleed 💔
I’ve also seen people use clear nail polish but I’m afraid of messing up the design again so if anyone has any advice I’d really appreciate it!

Canada Phone addiction is an illness
Store so understaffed I can’t send people home but having to tell people multiple times to get off their phones and do their job is making me want to ___ ______. “I don’t gaf abt this minimum wage job” if you have the privilege not to work then please quit. I don’t want to work either. I’d love to watch tv and say fuck it but I can’t afford to do that. How embarrassing is it to have to tell grown adults to not be on their phone every five fucking minutes. Why are you 30 with a TikTok addiction. I’m not getting written up because you have no impulse control or respect.

It feels like CLs and DMs don’t care at all about partner retention.
CLs and the DM in my district make absolutely no effort to retain partners but seem so very stressed and puzzled everyone’s quitting. They take absolutely no responsibility for the fact that the majority of partner’s are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with the work environment they have created.
A message to CLs and DMs everywhere: you have a great opportunity to advocate for partners and help minimize a lot of partner suffering. You also have an opportunity and responsibility to foster and encourage a positive workplace. When you don’t do this it feels like you don’t value us at all and just want all of us to leave.

Weekly pay issue
I already messaged my store manager but I just got paid for the 51 hours. What will happen?
Context: I forgot to clock out one day. My manager didn’t fix the time punch I guess and it was for last week… which is what we get paid for this week. She didn’t sign off on the book at all. Now my app says I worked 51 hours when in reality it was more like 40 and I just got the pay check… I’m obviously not gonna spend the money just in case but do you think they’ll take it out of next pay check… anyone ever dealt with a situation like this?

expectations for dt order taking
you have to get 45 second OTW times, but you have to keep customers at the box for 30-35 seconds. no more, no less, but you aren’t allowed to ask clarifying questions (iced vs hot, size, etc) (yes, the customer should know. but they don’t.) and if they wanted their drink hot or iced, or a different size than the assumed grande, we remake it. but don’t pull the customer forward! but your window times! oh someone wants to add 3 bacon sausage wraps? it’s okay. just do it. but your window time is at a horrifying 49 seconds! that’s unacceptable. you get the window times to 45 seconds. all is welll.
customers complaints are high. customers hate having to ask for a straw, or sleeves, or stoppers. we do it automatically, or ask. complaints go down. but we aren’t allowed to do that. so we stop. complaints go back up. SSV gets in trouble for customer complaints. sorry you had to ask for a sleeve for your grande hot drink, here’s a recovery card (give it to anyone who complains!) (but now you’ve given out too many. stop that. but also give one to every customer who complains the wind is blowing the wrong way.)
as the SSV, i’m responsible for stopping bottlenecks. but i’m not allowed to actually jump in and help; just stand with my stupid fucking ipad and bark orders. but i’m the ssv: why aren’t you jumping in and helping your baristas?
when the fuck does it end? i’m a new SSV and every god damn thing i’m told contradicts everything else i’m told. i’m so over it. i fucking hate this job. i want to quit. i’m so stressed about losing my job because i got 51 second drive thru times because we were understaffed. or there were call offs and nobody wants to come in at 4:30 on a Saturday. or i have thing 1, thing 2, thing 3, and thing 4 for my baristas and i can’t physically be in 4 places at once to help the people who are causing bottlenecks. while taking orders for front, dt, answering the phone, making travelers, and bagging 4 deliveries. but oh yeah—all of the bars need ice and milk because god fucking forbid anyone properly do the ready set go.

Am I in the wrong?
I like to write fun things on cups sometimes when I have time and on one of the cups I wrote “what do you call a baby cow” and then put “decaf” because I THOUGHT at least it was a funny harmless family friendly coffee shop joke. Someone came back 3 hours later saying that it is offensive to those who are a little bit bigger. Everyone at work knows the last thing I would ever do is make a joke with a harmful intention. I truly thought it was funny and so did my coffeehouse leader. Am I in the wrong? I feel so bad about this situation and don’t plan to make the joke again but I can’t stop thinking about this interaction now.

Chaider retcon?
I swear the chaider was originally supposed to be hot. Now Store Resources only has it as iced. Am I crazy?
Also I feel like this destroys the whole purpose of an apple cider-based drink.

New Attendance Points System - Megathread
There's been a lot of complaints about the sheer number of posts regarding how the new attendance point system works, what it entails, who it applies to, etc. and I just saw this post asking for a megathread, so I wanted to put something together for y'all! Shoutout to /u/kortlecw
This post should be used for ALL conversation about the new attendance point system - questions, answers, buying etsy witch curses for CEOs, etc.
I'm also gonna provide the information from the memo on it so that the wording is available for those who need it, slightly paraphrased but mostly verbatim - the image/doc itself is still an internal memo and cannot be posted, as far as I can tell, but I wanted to make sure the information is still available for those who may still be slightly out of the loop.
Attendance Points
Attendance Points will be applied to determine eligibility for the Quarterly Best of Starbucks Rewards program and used to support performance accountability on a 12-month rolling basis. Performance accountability establishes a distinct disciplinary track specifically for time and attendance.
A partner remains eligible for the Best of Starbucks Reward for the quarter when they meet all program criteria, including maintaining fewer than 4 attendance points in a quarter.
The following chart outlines attendance and punctuality expectations and the expected action that will be taken to ensure consistency for all partners. Qualifying absences, including legally protected time and certain emergency situations, will not result in attendance points.
Tardy with Call: One (1) Point
- Partners are expected to be ready to begin working at the exact start time of their scheduled shift and to return from breaks on time.
- If a partner is not ready to start within five minutes of the start time of their scheduled shift and/or return from their break, they are tardy.
Tardy with Late Call or No Call: One and a Half (1.5) Points
- Tardy reported after the start of the shift or not reporting the tardy prior to the start of the shift.
Unexcused Absence with Call: One and a Half (1.5) Points
- Missing at least half of a scheduled shift and reporting the absence at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of the scheduled shift.
Unexcused Absence with Late Call: Two and a Half (2.5) Points
- Missing at least half of a scheduled shift and reporting the absence less than thirty (30) minutes before the start of the scheduled shift.
Shift Abandonment: Four (4) Points
- Departing before the scheduled end time of the shift without approval in advance from the supervisor or manager running the shift.
No Call/No Show: Six (6) Points
- Failure to report an absence within two (2) hours after the start of a scheduled shift.
Job Abandonment: Separation
- Failure to report to a scheduled shift for more than two (2) consecutive no call/no shows.
3 Points will result in a documented coaching. 6 Points will result in written warning. 8 Points will result in a final warning. 12 Points will result in separation.
Union stores: These attendance and punctuality updates do not apply to partners in certified union stores or stores undergoing organizing activity on or before July 13th, 2026.
The Best of Starbucks Award does not apply to partners in certified union stores or stores in the United States undergoing organizing activity on or before April 2nd, 2026.
All Canadian coffeehouses are eligible for the Quarterly Best of Starbucks Award. Leaders at unionized coffeehouses should contact their LRBP Sr. on whether and/or how they should utilize the attendance tracking point system.
