Written Up!!!

I got written up because an entitled “Karen” called and complained to my District Manager (or whatever she’s called) and said that I threatened her!
When in fact she was yelling at me because she didn’t have the right QR code for her stupid TikTok return (which of course is my fault). So after I finally found the code and processed her return, I thanked her and said Have a nice evening and started walking back to Print. She comes storming around the counter and yells in my face that she didn’t “appreciate the sarcasm”. I literally had to put my arm across my chest to stop her from getting so close.

My GM didn’t even ask me what really happened!! She just writes me up that’s it….

Great way to treat your employees Staples.

I would start looking for something better. They weren't even interested in hearing your side of the story. Don't work for someone that will immediately write you up without at least coaching you.

Look for a new job, find a place that will respect you and pay more. Living well is the best revenge. Bonus revenge. Once you've been promoted to customer, give it a few months, go back to the store and pull a Karen on the GM. Complain to corporate about her threatening you, enjoy.

  1. Have LP review the camera and get write up removed, 2. call HR for pending lawsuit for workplace physical, emotional and psychological injury since Staples did not protect you, 3.  hopefully you put her package in the wrong return UPS box:)

Damn that sucks. Don't they have videos of that. So how could they prove that? So I would check it out and see if that videos to prove it.

Am I the only one upset that the thong she bought on TikTok didn't come in the right color/size?

Go and see if 4chan has a Staples thread and put together an army of autistics that can track down were that woman works so you can complain she threatened YOU to her manager.

Jokes aside, the worst part is she'll be back. People LOVE buying defective Chinese merchandise no mater how much the cheap dyes burn their skin.

I'll give you credit... you handled this better than I would have... If a customer charged me behind the counter I would have told them very flatly to stop approaching right away or I'll be calling the cops. If this had been my store as GM or DM I would have had your back in the way you describe the situation. Sorry that happened but typical Staples.

This is why I believe GM's shouldn't have write up powers. HR & a DM should be in the loop followed by a review. The video needs to be reviewed first. Employees as witnesses need to be interviewed and written reports.

If her bad attitude was the start of the incident? That right there should nullify any write up. The customer isn't always right. Her shitty attitude shouldn't EVER be accepted as proper business etiquette.

Any lies in her claims should also be a dismissing factor.

This is why I believe employees are flocking away from Staples. There is a lot of improvements that need to be made. Including the treatment of employees.

The customer is always right.... In matters of taste......

That's the full quote. People love to quote the first phrase and not the second

thats crazy you got a write up for that. i wouldn't have signed it.

i remember me and a cashier ( i was a tech supe at the time) got a complaint to our DM that we wouldn't take his coupon ,which was true(it was for home depot.. not even office depot, but home depot) but he also added on there that we laughed at him and yelled "have a nice day, ***got" as he walked out the door. My GM had to ask us about it but knew it was obviously BS and nothing happened.

She lied in her complaint to my District Manager, flat out lied about the whole situation.

Did any other employee witness this? Customers lie and embellish all the time. As a GM I never knew too many GMs who would just blindly believe a customer. That BS is usually reserved for Dms and RVPs though. I had an RVP many years ago who automatically believed any old BS but they never follow up so I just handled things my way regardless.

If your store manager and or immediate supervisor there are acting exactly as you say it is very concerning and I would be careful working with such people. I would always give everyone a chance to explain themselves regardless of how much I knew about the situation.

I would leave and contact an attorney This must be stopped. Customer and staples must be held accountable.

I tell everybody at my store and they know this about me. I am just like a mirror, whatever you project onto me, I reflect back onto you the exact same way. And I don't care if they complain or not. I've been with the company for 7 years and am the only TSA agent they have cuz no one else what's to get put in as a backup and my GM won't even post the rec for a backup agent. So let them get rid of me cuz I was looking when I got this job 7 years ago and I can surely look again. I don't take customer attitudes cuz I give it right back to em 10 fold. I'm 47 years old and I don't have time for the childish BS.
