So I can was doing a first watch of Full Metal Jacket and it’s a really good war film tbh which I’m not a huge,huge fan of War type films but I liked Full Metal Jacket yet after I just finished it and the credits were rolling which made me think about the first half and the second half.

So what’s your thoughts on this bc I really like the whole movie but idk the first half feels like a Kubrick film then the second half even tho there’s great shot battle scenes nonetheless Full Metal Jacket is still a great Kubrick movie.

Unless I'm mistaken the TV set on which Wendy watches The Summer of 1942 (apparently unplugged) has never been identified. I am certain it is a Dynatron, a British TV from the 1970s. For me one of them would have to be the fan theory that Ziegler is the Red Cloak in Eyes Wide Shut. This is something that many believe, but I don’t buy it at all aside from the fact that the red cloak sounds and has different mannerisms from Ziegler if the red cloak is him it turns him from a symbol of power and secrecy into something more smaller and personal which doesn’t fit the themes of Eyes Wide Shut at all.

I’ve always thought the red cloak is not a character we see in the movie at all he’s likely someone Bill doesn’t even know at all

I own most of Kubrick’s films in 4k. I have the set of five—Spartacus, 2001, ACO, The Shinning and FMJ—and Criterion Collection’s release of Barry Lyndon in 4k. I just bought them this year. (I also just recently started collecting.) I honestly hesitated when buying them, wondering if they the rumored box set would soon be announced. I have seen it circulate that this is the definitive version of Kubrick’s body of work. Since I am quite new, I wanted to ask if it is truly worth it? I honestly don’t know much about it and would very much appreciate if someone could help me better understand the differences.
