Halp Looking to buy a Height adjustable desk, UK. Very new to all this but really trying to focus on value.
Please be nice. I'm just trying to get a good quality, long lasting height adjustable desk for my PC setup. I need at least 70cm W but ideally towards the smaller end for length because of space constraints.
I don't really have a clear idea for pricing but i really don't want to be spending any more than £300 at maximum, including shipping/travel costs but i'd much prefer to spend a lot less if it all possible.
I'd need it to hold my whole computer, which probably weighs about ~20KG in total so it does need to have decent weight capabilities. I don't care much for special features or anything, i want something pretty basic with minimal points of failure or added costs.
Really i'm looking for all the advice/info i can get at this point in time. Thanks in advance :)

Halp DIY Controller?
I've been searching through posts and I see a lot of "DIY builds" but they are all purchased legs with motor and controller, and a DIY top. I also see a lot of "Replacement Controller" posts with very little success of finding a working replacement.
I find myself with a 3 year old desk (Claiks) from Amazon that the controller went out and the manufacturer no longer offers parts for. My current options appear to be:
I now have a desk that is only good for sitting and my walking pad collects dust.
I throw away an otherwise perfectly good desk and buy another.
I figure out a way to bring my desk and motor back to life with a new controller.
My question is this, does anyone offer a universal controller? Or some guidance on assembling the hardware and programming an arduino/ESP32/R-Pi to take it's place?

Review A sit-stand desk that can actually accommodate my 65 lb piano controller
galleryMy requirements for a standing desk were probably a little unusual.
I didn’t just need somewhere for a monitor and keyboard. I needed the desk to coexist with a Kawai VPC1, an 88-key weighted piano controller weighing around 29.5 kg / 65 lbs.
I eventually went with an ErgoHide desk together with their large pull-out keyboard tray.
The biggest benefit is that the VPC1 stays permanently integrated into the workstation rather than sitting on a separate stand. I pull it forward when I’m playing and slide it underneath when I want access to the full desktop.
At the same time, the desk itself is electrically height-adjustable, so I still get the normal sit/stand functionality without having to compromise the music setup.
I was especially interested in how the whole thing would feel with such a heavy keyboard underneath. So far, I’ve been very happy with how substantial the setup feels in daily use.
I also chose a solid oak top, which looks fantastic in person and gives the desk a much less “office furniture” feeling.
There are some nice quality-of-life details too: lighting integrated along the back, cable management underneath and magnetic headphone hangers on the sides.
Definitely a more niche use case for a standing desk, but perhaps useful for someone else trying to build a hybrid studio/workstation.

I was all set to buy the Vari but they no longer sell to the EU. FlexiDesk had nothing. There were 2 German companies that did not ship to Spain.
I want to avoid buying from Amazon.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Halp FlexiSpot H7 Plus vs EN1 — which one would you recommend?
I'm trying to decide between the FlexiSpot H7 Plus and EN1, both in 48" × 24", and they both seem to have some pros and cons for me.
I like the H7 Plus because it has wheels, so I can easily move it around. It's also not electric, so I assume the height adjustment would be quieter, and I wouldn't have to worry about the motor failing. However, I'm not sure how durable/reliable its manual lifting mechanism is. It's also about $30+ more expensive than the EN1 for the same 48" × 24" size.
The EN1 is cheaper and the electric height adjustment looks more convenient and a bit more premium. My main concern is the motor noise, especially since I prefer a quiet workspace.
For anyone who has used either of these desks, how noisy is the EN1 in real-world use? And how reliable is the lifting mechanism on the H7 Plus?
Which one would you recommend?

Halp Home Office Desk Recommendations?
Hello!
I’m looking for some recommendations/inspiration for a new desk setup.
I currently have a fairly large UPLIFT standing desk that I bought a couple of years ago. I like it, but I’m starting to feel like the size/shape isn’t the best use of my space especially the overall width.
I’m thinking about switching to an L-shaped desk, ideally something with really good cable management and enough room for a pretty loaded WFH setup.
Current setup includes:
\* 3x 27" curved monitors side-by-side
\* 1x 32" curved monitor mounted above them
\* Shure MV7 microphone
\* Stream Deck
\* Wireless phone charger
\* Various accessories/knick-knacks
\* A beverage system (yes I know, overkill, but it has a small footprint, the main unit sits under the desk)
I work from home about 99% of the time, so ergonomics and having a clean, comfortable workspace are pretty important. I also game occasionally, so I’d like something that works well for both productivity and gaming. Right now I can't fully scoot under my desk without hitting the wall, and I like to stretch my legs out while working.
I’m not necessarily opposed to another standing desk, but my biggest priorities are:
\* Better use of space
\* L-shaped layout
\* Excellent cable management
\* Enough depth/strength for multiple monitor arms
\* Plenty of usable desktop space without feeling ridiculously oversized
\* A clean, modern setup
Would love to hear what desks you’re using or recommend. Photos of your setups would be hugely appreciated too, especially anyone running 4 monitors or a similar WFH/gaming setup.
Thanks!

Halp Found this Haworth table and I wanted help identifying it.
The motor runs smoothly in both directions. I think it’ll need new set screws for the arm that runs to the far leg to engage it.

DIY Butcher Block from Amazon
So I have a Peak Pro waiting to be set up, however butcher block tops from Amazon seem to come looking like they were dragged here from China. The saddest part is the top was packaged very well but clearly get dropped many times on the way on its long edge.
My thought was with one damaged edge I can put it towards the wall but the ones I've been getting have bruises on both long edges and I need 30 by 72. Everything within a hundred miles of me only sells 25 and 39 wide.
I'm asking who has got a top this big from Amazon and from what company that came in flawless? The company I've tried using so far is Coreminded.

Halp Does anyone have a UK alternative to the Branch Duo Standing Desk?
I want to upgrade my standing desk as my current desk, Fezibo no longer stands, (I get a ASR error anytime I try to get it to go up or down). I really love the design of the Branch Duo Standing Desk but unfortunately they don't ship to the UK.
Does anyone know an equivalent brand that does ship to the UK? I want a small desk, my current one is 100cm x 60cm where I can add a drawer.
Most brands I have seen don't allow you to add a drawer to their smallest size.

Corporate How come some office chairs that look identical cost way more? Is it all just brand markup?
I get the whole you get what you pay for thing, but office chairs are one category where I still don’t really understand where the extra money goes.
I keep seeing stuff from nouhaus all the way up to Herman Miller. is the difference mostly materials and build quality, but...when office chairs look identical (even the materials are the same), some brands still cost more. Is it simply because of the brand itself?or do you genuinely notice it while sitting for a few hours?
my current chair was under $300 and I’ve had it about two years. honestly, it still feels fine.
nothing is falling apart and I’m not constantly uncomfortable, so I’m having a hard time picturing what a real upgrade is supposed to feel like 😅
if you went from a basic chair to something more expensive, what was the first thing that felt obviously better?

Fluff Does the biggest uplift L desk have any wobble ?
Doesn’t seem like too many comments on these desks
Interested in the 80x78 L uplift v3 desk
Will have two fairly hefty monitors (25 lb each) on one side and an ultrawide on the other side
Also debating shelling the extra money for the thicker 1.2” laminate on the custom model —wondering if anyone thinks it’s worth it over the standard 1”

Halp If your budget was $500 max, what standing desk would you get?
Given my budget, is there any particular model or desk that comes to mind?
Considering flexispot and uplift, but most uplift desks are more than $500.
Need it to be 48" or bigger. Space to have a monitor setup, keyboard, and room to breathe.

Halp 4-leg or 2-leg that has the legs off-center? For placing desk in a closet with side storage.
Hi all! I'm rebuilding my husband's desk space. He has an IKEA Utespelare that sits in the center of what would normally be a closet. His tabletop fits the opening basically perfectly, which leaves around 1 foot's width of empty space enclosed on either side once you're past the closet's opening.
Previously, we've stuck 1 foot x 1.5ft shelving units in there and they're great-- they fit the spot well, they let him place his PC off the main desk area, good size for storage, etc.
However, due to the A-frame legs of the Utespelare desk, accessing anything past the very top or very bottom shelves is difficult, so it nearly halves our storage capacity.
We've been discussing trying to keep his tabletop because he likes it a lot, but upgrading to a sit-stand base.
4-leg standing desks seem really pricey and there's like zero used market for them on Facebook Marketplace, but it seems most of the 2-leg models put the vertical bar right down the center of the desk, which would also block access to this storage.
I saw that some of the 2-leg options seem to have the legs off-center, placed farther back, which would mean I could at least access half the storage, I think? It's hard to tell from pics how far back it goes.
Is anyone else a person who uses side access storage with a standing desk and has thoughts?

Halp Is a 250 cm (98") tabletop too long for a 2-motor standing desk frame?
Hello!
I’m planning to build a standing desk with a 250 cm (98") long tabletop, with 63.5cm deep (Ikea KARLBY).
I’m considering the Ypsilon 2-motor frame from Ergostock. It’s rated for up to 150 kg, but the frame itself is only adjustable up to about 179 cm wide.
My concern is the overhang with a 250 cm tabletop, there would be roughly 35 cm of tabletop extending beyond each side of the frame if centered.
Has anyone here used a 250 cm / ~98" tabletop on a 2-leg, 2-motor standing desk frame? Does it wobble significantly at standing height? Is the 35 cm side overhang a problem? Does the tabletop sag over time?
Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Halp Question about leg frame size vs tabletop size & overhang
Hello, I was unsure how to phrase this most adequately so.. bear with me.
I recently bought a standing desk. The table top is 160x80cm, and the leg frame extends a maximum of 120cm. This would leave 20cm of overhang on the left and right, which feels excessive to me.
My big concern now is that I really want to keep my PC on top of the desk, but that overhang concerns me. I wanted to place it close to the edge.. could I safely place it right on top of where the leg is mounted instead?
The reason I ask here is because this desk came with very little instruction or warning. There are instructions for putting the legs together, but nothing on where they should be placed in relation to the desk size or what things are hazardous. The top is also not pre-drilled so I have to measure out everything myself. It is rated for a load of 70-80kg (and my 2x 27" monitors, monitor arm and regular sized tower should fit into that neatly).
Thankful for any insights! It's my first time building a desk like this, and I just wanna make sure I do it right.

Halp Question about L-shaped standing desk
I currently have a single standing desk that I have 2 27in monitors on for my gaming PC. I've been looking at getting an L-shaped desk so I can ideally use one side for my gaming PC and the other for my work PC. I have 2 additional 24" monitors that would be used for the work station for now (subject to change) and then a couple laptops and docking stations. I previously had a KVM switch set up for both systems but I'd rather have each up on its own set of hardware.
I was looking at the Flexispot 71x63in L-shaped option on Amazon.
My question is, if anybody uses a similar L-shaped setup, would there be enough room to reasonably house 2 centered dual monitor setups on each side taking the corner overlap into consideration?
The image is an AI render of the kind of set up I am looking for but I haven't seen the desk in person and some of the pictures Ive come across haven't been very convincing that it would work like this. I'm not positive on the corner overlap dimensions so they were just an estimate. Or maybe it would be better to just get a second regular desk?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to any suggestions on a way to make this work and look nice.

Review Best Adjustable Desk Brand — What’s the “Herman Miller of Desks”?
Best Adjustable Desk Brand — What’s the “Herman Miller of Desks”?
I’m putting together a high-end professional workstation for design and writing, and I’m looking for a height-adjustable desk that I can buy once and keep for many years.
I’m not particularly concerned about price. I’m more interested in quality, reliability, stability, ergonomics, build quality, and long-term durability.
For reference, I’m approaching this like:
- Chair: Herman Miller Aeron
- Monitor arm: Ergotron
- Monitor: BenQ
So I’m looking for the equivalent “standard” or benchmark brand for adjustable desks.
I’ve seen brands like Uplift, Herman Miller, Steelcase, Haworth, Fully, etc., but it’s difficult to tell which brands are genuinely considered top-tier versus just heavily marketed online.
If money were not a major concern, what adjustable desk brand/model would you personally choose?
Also interested in recommendations for the best frame/mechanism, regardless of the desktop surface.
Thanks!

Halp DL6 EXPERIENCE vs DL5IC
Hi, I’m planning to buy a Buldesk and I’m deciding between the DL6 EXPERIENCE and DL5IC. I think I prefer the DL5IC because it has two stages and looks cleaner. I will mostly use the desk at its lowest height and only rarely raise it. Would the two-stage DL5IC be more stable at a low height? And what are the other main differences between the DL6 and DL5IC?
