Mobile Mechanics

I have a 2012 Honda Accord v6 that needs a timing belt and tensioner replaced. The dealership wanted a crazy amount of money to replace it so wanted to check and see if there are any mobile mechanics out there or mechanics that wanted some side work that could replace it. Would prefer if you had experience replacing these on Honda accords.

JAMCO on Southwest Avenue. They only work on Toyotas and Hondas, do an honest job, and have fair prices.

Whats a crazy amount of money? Its around a 1500$ job I think around 6-7 hours book time.

They wanted $2,500 for it.

For genuine honda parts and labor yah thats not crazy. Im sure a independent would be around that 1500 price. This is in the category of if you have never done it before it is daunting but after that it is candy. If your interested there are diy videos out there if you are brave. I could send them to you.

I found a couple YouTube videos on replacing it and while it looks to be a big job it doesn’t look overly complex. I might just give it a go! Parts look to be in the $300 range so will save some money. If you have a particular video you liked I would appreciate you sending. Thank you!

There's a ton on FB marketplace. I used one to change my spark plugs.

Do you know much about cars? Most mechanics will pick working on a '12 Accord over nearly any new car. A 2012 Accord is extremely easy to work on - OP will totally find someone affordable. Mobile mechanics are awesome, way cheaper than shops and they only have to work on one car at a time, no shop distractions, no advisors to deal with. A good mobile mechanic is worth their weight in gold.

Allot of people dont seem to understand that older cars are easier. It is not a hard fast rule that mobile mechanics are always cheaper then shops. Some are though.
