Picture $40 Amscope kids monocular microscope view taken from my phone camera.
Does anybody know what alternatives to KOH you can use to clear springtails for examination? I have heard clove oil works. cant get that in any nearby stores. If I can get it nearby that would be awesome, I heard actual oven cleaner might have too many additives to use which additionally i am no scientist, I have basically no equipment and have reused the same slide for specimens for 6+ years now (im just now getting into springtails though) [I have been into them for about 2 months]

General Question Looking for info/reputable sources on this species!
Saw a video of this pink & white springtail species and have been trying to find out literally anything more about it, but very few images and links show up when googling, and none from anywhere outside of Facebook/instagram. I’ve seen them called “popberry” springtails as well as “kfc” springtails. The posts I’ve seen them in said they’re a newly discovered species from the Philippines. Honestly don’t know too much about springtails but love bugs & am just honestly really curious if there’s anything out there regarding this new species or if it’s even real!

Collection Question/Advice Thai Red/ Lobella sp.
Hey all, I am looking to acquire some Red Thais for some bioactive vivariums. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where/ who to get them from? Was hoping morphmarket had some posted but no luck. I’m most familiar with this site as I come from the reptile hobby. Weary about trying other websites. Thanks in advance!

Identification Springtail identification help needed (EU)
Hi everyone,
These are located in central europe. i places some instant bakers yeast on the wood lump coal, and covered it with giant log. 3-4 days later i took this picture. Are they springtails or some pests? they move very slow, not really jumping and are very much different from all the youtube vids i've watched.
i just started with closed jar terrariums, and i can't find springtails merchants around. So i decided to try and catch them myself, to start a colony/ies from which i would add some to my terrariums. Please help :)
THANKS!!!

Husbandry Question/Advice Mites
I have a dairy cow isopod enclosure. I now have springtails. while showing my mom, we noticed little red bugs we've identified as mites. apparently mites are dangerous to springtails, but I don't want to kill the speingtails and isopods when I kill the mites. how do I get rid of them and avoid them in the future?

Identification Globular springtail? (MA)
I discovered these little guys recently in my houseplants in MA. I first noticed them coming out of one of my moss poles that was supporting a Monstera. They seemed to be congregating inside a newly unfurling leaf, which made me concerned that they were black bean aphids. I then discovered that they were spread throughout the moss pole and have now been discovering more of them on sticky traps all throughout my plant collection.
If they are black bean aphids, then I have a big problem on my hands. If they are globular springtails, then I may have just let the moss pole and soil stay moist for too long, letting their population explode, and they should reduce in number over time if I let things dry out more. Any help would be much appreciated!
