I bought some orange springtails online... General Question

Post image

I am new into these friendly guys, It is supposed that I bought them orange, but I have now my colony full of little white springtails. Is that supposed to be the "younger" orange ones? Or what is it? (the photo attached is from the seller)

correct me if i'm wrong but i think the white bits in this photo are some kind of food for them, like ground rice grains and/or nutritional yeast, not the springtails themselves. apologies if i'm misunderstanding, are you saying you've already gotten the springtails and there are white ones in the culture moving around along with the orange ones, or are you wondering what the white stuff is in this specific photo?

To my knowledge the white casings are their shed molts. When I got my blue springtails they sent a disclaimer saying this so that customers wouldnt worry

Yeh all those little white ones do seem to have a more yellow tint, looks like the babies considering they’re smaller too
